the "I'm still in the "being reviewed" status" thread

lemme guess…
everyone posting here everyday considers USC their top choice right?
:stuck_out_tongue: me too

Its almost my top choice…almost

Yeah, its my top choice lol

does being in review since 3/9 most likely mean that i’m rejected?

Statuses mean NOTHINg. Just ignore them. Go ta sleep and wake up on the 28th.

i cant go to sleep!! I AM SO REJECTED. MY APP HAS BEEN REVIEWED SINCE FEB 24.

lol, mine was since 2/20. I don’t think you should look into it that much. Just wait and see what happens rofl.

Same as mine, 2/20. Don’t worry about it. It seems that the statuses have no real correlation to whether you’ve been accepted or not.

In review since 2/26

Didn’t get an acceptance today, and since 3/28 is the last wave (but also includes rejections), I have a feeling I’m rejected.

In review – 2/27

I would love to go to 'SC. Hopefully there is little correlation between the status. A two week vacation sounds awfully enticing right now.

i knowww…i wanna go to usc for so many reasons. I honestly cannot imagine myself being happier anywhere else. i mean if it doesn’t work out, then i guess its not meant to be, but i will seriously be crushed. i would still be overjoyed if i was admitted as a spring admit.

yea i REALLY want to go to usc too
but i have a feeling i am getting rejected seeing as there is only one more wave left but i hope my feeling is wrong

I’ve been in review since 3/11. Heard nothing yet. Though i got a letter from Lori the theatre admissions lady thanking me for visiting her, and from my tour guide. That was really nice of them.

mine changed to “in review” on 3/13 and i got my acceptance packet on 3/15 the letter was postmarked for the 14th and i had gotten a letter asking for mid-year grades (same letter as the i didnt get scholarships one)

Theres still half the spots left, so don’t worry, and don’t lose hope.
:)

^^Exactly. Thats 3800 acceptances left.

P.S. azhao, thats where i get my self-confidence from.

And really, I’ve been stressing about it ALL WEEK, like I can’t sleep.

But remember this:

Early acceptances always go out to those that are over-qualified such as the ones awarded scholarships, and the ones that make the accepted stats much higher than the actual stats of matriculated students. USC, as other schools, know that many over-qualified students probably will not be attending their school (hence why we all have safeties, but dont actually attend them), but offer acceptances earlier/grant scholarships to them as a hook to get them to come to their school.

The majority of us with middle 50% stats, if not higher stats, will most likely be a part of the last, and final wave of the 3800 acceptances. (And I’d say that THIS IS THE WAVE where MOST of matriculating students end up coming from.)

^^ Nice to see some good ol’ sanity!

also, it may be more of a common practice to admit the over qualified students first so they can leverage the average SAT/GPA/etc. I don’t think we need to be worried. If you look at the stats thread most people are exceptionally qualified and above average. I mean everybody can’t be above average because that wouldn’t be average… -_-

Yup and according to the class profile, 25% of the students have a SAT score less than 1910 and 50% have a GPA average below 3.75

That means there was a whole 750 students who got below 1910 in their the SAT and 1500 have a GPA below 3.75. And this is just for those who chose to attend USC, not those who were accepted.
Im sure it’ll be more difficult this year but seriously, if you have decent SAT scores or a decent GPA, you shoudnt really be panicking.

(Please dont berate me for saying that the SAT and GPA are all important, cuz their not. Im just using them as a common measuring tool)
( All statistics are given in approximation )
