my status has been the same since 2/8 – the “in review… will notify by 4/1… call after 4/11 if you don’t hear…” bla bla bla - did someone decide that if you are in review since that long, then you are rejected? I hope not

Exactly.
Look, theres still 3800 spaces left.
And about 4000 or a little under actually matriculate.
That not only supports the fact that the over-qualified students that have been admitted already to USC will probably end up going to better/more prestigious schools (like ivy’s).
Like other schools, (UC’s for example, send out regents a month in advance to notify those who are over-qualified and granted scholarships) USC HAS to send out notifications earlier to those who are over-qualified to increase their stats and possibly sway the prospective student to come to their school by notifying early.
The 3800 spots that are left will most likely be given to those that fall under the middle-75-50-25% stats (2000-1800 SATs) and 3.7-3.6 GPAs.

And the more I think about it this way, and stress out less, it makes so much more sense.

Trustee, Presidential, and Deans accounts for 650 recipients. The actual pool of hose who qualify would be the top ten percent of those who applied (about 3,600). They’re accepting 7600 this year.

Nah, I think the statuses mean absolutely nothing. The statuses on people’s pages are all messed up, some people who were accepted still had the “error message” and some people were still in the “recieved fall grades” status and were accepted as well. Don’t worry about it now, theres nothing you can do except wait.

Those stats are from last year… so I don’t know what this year’s applicant pool is like… don’t take all of my words seriously either, thats just pure speculation.
