HEHE…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Finally as the light of the new day dawns upon the horizon …
i rise above …
to reach yet another mark in the road ahead …
and as i realise the past it had been …
i see all i have done …
shared …learnt…met … taught… told…
So guess its…
Just the right ripe time to be …
among the ones who are …
so called as the SENIOR MEMBERS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

1000 posts

haahaaa…
So, its my turn now… I am a “Member” now…this is my 301st post! Yay!
Cheers ppl!

~dexter87 : “so choice (b) in the image i posted??”
~shash_rao : “yes .”

** NO
The correct answer is A **

~asaatvik : “As to your question before: I visit this thread often, but find lots of random talk (no offense meant to anybody) so instead of engaging in it myself, I just ignore it and post when I have something meaningful to ask or tell.”

asaatvik,in my opinion, that’s the right thing to do !

SHABIN

.

hey saatvik,
I was talking about the National Cyber Olympiad (which registered more people than the IOI heats and is well known…I got to know about IOI’s existence this year only), Next the Computer Society of India’s olympiad…others are ones organised by Modern School and City Montessori school.

Basically,the olympiads (atleast for MIT) dont show your worth they are just an indicator of your passion…so basically anything that you do related to your field will show your passion.
BTW are you taking part in IOI this time.

shabin r u serious???..i marked (A)!!!..but so many people told me that its (B)…

Okey Shabin so u tell why wud the answer be A

smart the centripetal acc has to point towards the sun…it is the source of the gravitational force…and the acceleration due to change in velocity will be in the direction of the velocity only (which is always tangential)…so the net acc. has to be the resultant of the 2 which makes a certain angle with velocity vector (not necessarily 90 degrees all the time)…

The answer is ‘a’. The shape of the path followed by the comet screams out the answer!!

Or maybe I’m just out of tune with physics !!

i somehow have a feeling the answer is b. ill try to explain it sometime tomorrow morning if i wake up before lunch…

the reason im not absoulutely sure now is that the only external force is the gravitational force and therefor acceleration should be as in a.

im nice and confused now. tomorrow morning (or afternoon) wins.

Someone said i that i had 2500 posts!!
Its never gonna go beyond 2000 (like thats a small number!) for me!
And smartmind judging by the speed you are moving at, my bet is that you’ll easily cross 3000 posts.
p.s. its tough for me to keep track of tit now!! The old days have passed!

no I didn’t make it to the IOI. I came 8th and only the top 4 from the camp go :frowning:
For consolation, there were a bunch of IIT top 100 rankers who didn’t get through either :slight_smile:
But this year I don’t have to participate in the first round, I go straight to the national round in April.

I don’t know what kind of questions they ask on the NCO but I’m pretty sure IOI is more competitive and intense, not to mention tougher.

hehe… i wont ever crosss that magical figure…and really dont want to… this 1000 also came in so early due to the two night chtas on the threads with vampiro and other contributing over 100 posts…

But then its going to go down now…

And Well certainly the IOI is more reputed than NCO…

And like can we mention stuff we are participating in now but whose results are out by next year march or something

and its not only you adides …almost all of 09ers come here rarely… but that is obvious and why shud they …

Well saatvik…by competitive I did not mean tougher I meant more partcipation. Obviously IOI is better than NCO anyday. but NCO beats the count of participation of IOI by thousands. Thats what i wanted to say.

saatvik…can you advise me regarding the preparation for IOI. I cant really find anything course related in it and basically its logic so can you tell me what I should do to be in practice.

you only start preparing for the IOI and INOI later, first you gotta prepare for the ZIO. There are lots of resources for the IOI like USACO, TopCoder etc. but for ZIO all you can do is check out the previous years papers (there are 3 or 4). ZIO is NOT a programming contest, it is paper based. But it replicates the algorithm based questions asked in the IOI, albeit they are much easier. Google for the stuff/sites above.

ZIO papers can be found at www.iarcs.org.in

Well Saatvik I knew about that and am already into the past year papers but nevertheless thanks for u’r help.

Sachit your querym about TOEFL (well posting here to put TiT back on top)
well Jan 4 Toefl is late but I think if u type the essay then your score will reach comfortably in time. As the reading process starts in February and the score will get there in 3 weeks so it will reach in time.
As it is you already have good verbal scores so dont fret over TOEFL and take it if u really want to and have $130 to spare.

ive already registered!! i wanna be completely safe!! but its a relief that it wont be tht much of a prob. should i mail all the univs im applyin to and tell em that im giving toefl a lil late???

no problemd with anything there. You can surely contact and inform the admissions about this.

Also …plzz. do tell us what they respond…a lot of us ppl will want to hear of what they want …
And TEOFL…
