Hear, hear!

I’m just glad we haven’t started AA yet on this thread… (Small mercies and all)

I’m just glad we haven’t started AA yet on this thread… (Small mercies and all)

Did u use that BASIC-sorta language or some other software for ur metallic-buddies…

I already have a cold, fever, and viral infiltrations in my cornea. I really don’t want a migraine.

How on earth would we have AA, Shrivats? Affirmative action for dorks and conspiracy theorists, or something? ;)

(Yes, I know that isn’t quite what you meant. I feel like being deliberately obtuse, it makes for better conversation sometimes.)

Lakshya – there you are, then. Don’t compromise your health any more (yes, I’m allowed to say things like that, I’m a Bio kid!).

I’m a robotic purist at heart. It’s positrons or nothing else for me. :)

Obtuseness’s good. (I rather like the look of lots of s’s. (now that’s a meta-referential like if there ever was one :)))

I used C for the Nationals and then we had to use Lego’s software for the WRO.

EDIT: There is a software called P-BASIC which is very similar to BASIC but that only works with certain compatible microprocessors. The RCX we used is a bit too advanced.

Hurrah for positronic brains!
Now all I want to do is curl up with Asimov, but alas, I must needs read about ovule formation. (Bugger it.)

No 3 laws? Positively antediluvian, really! :D

Honestly though, I’m in awe of you programmers. The amount of patience required is immense…

(Though from my observations, auto suggestion, and a good deal of skill at the Ouija board don’t hurt either, neither does telekinesis)

Move you heap of metal! Move!

Now that’s cool… C provides gr8 power…I LOVE Lego’s software… though to clear the air… I’m mainly on the software side… not many metallic buddies of mine, though…

They use BASIC at FIRST Robotics…

AND have u heard of Microsoft’s spankin now Robotics Studio?

Asimov was stupid. Robots can never think for themselves(Not just yet, before you all start at me), if they can - they won’t obey laws, just like any human.

I’ve got this ancient book of the first ever short stories Isaac wrote. (And that’s not you, isaac :p)

Really rekindles your hope in the fact that anyone has a book in them. (they’re quite horrendous, some of them. “Black Friar of the Flame” Pshaw!)

In my experience, the best way to deal with recalcitrant machines is the judicious application of a good kick. ;)

With that said, I’m off to bed. Won’t warn you guys about breaking the Internet, you’ll probably do it anyway. :D

Ah, but Slavic accent here: "It is ingrained their neural pathways… They shall not disobey… (Unless they feel like it, of course :D)

That holds true for most of humanity as well though, doesn’t it? :)

That is abuse, serious abuse. You must all be jailed. Treating such noble things that way.

I plead guilty then. (I’m suddenly getting a flashback here of the last Seinfeld episode, but I digress)

The one about the monkey?

Nope, the last ever. Where they’re tried in Massachusetts, appropriately enough. (*a not so subtle hint about Institute located there :))

They’re accused of being well, ‘Seinfeldian’, i.e. violating the Good Samaritan law, by refusing to help bystanders.

There’s more than an Institute. ;)
