The Indian Thread (TiT) # 15

you must be kidding me issac- 1000 applicants from india alone?

ya…its a fact…I almost fell off my seat when I figured it out…

5/1000 : 0.005 probability of being selected…

Well, if u hav good recs then u dont hav to worry…
within 2-3 yrs, Indian applicants will constitute more than 50% of the total int’l applicants…(last yr, total int’l applicants were 2,568)…

my teacher will write anything I want him to, any ideas what should I ask him to write?

Apart from ur exceptional talents (which evry2 will write) ur Counselor can write about wat hav u done for the school (something different n special) n outside the school…

I feel very ashamed when I surf through the MIT blogs…posts by many Indians exasperates me…I wonder who told them to apply to MIT…(really, I m annoyed…)…only few in 100s make some sense…

@spacepirate: I don’t check the MIT blogs, I haven’t even applied to MIT, I think you were talking about bas.

I know you’re from the AP board, fuzzy said you were in the same school. I saw the AP state board English paper at my friend’s house yesterday… it’s a joke. A travesty! How can an English paper be like that?!

Well that’s what I say when I see CBSE papers. :D

I’ve sworn not to look at the comments section of the blogs. It’s too embarrassing, truly, to see the idiots that have set up camp there.

Calvin and Hobbes. :)

Of course saying it’s a .005 probability of being accepted is of course a bit of an extension, that isn’t exactly mandated. The number of qualified candidates amongst that number who can actually string a pretty decent application together is probably only about 40-50 percent. Though that does still leave about 500 people though. :p

that is y I on look at the blog topic n close it as soon as I finish reading the first post…

Dear Sir,

Could you please let me know as to what type of and how much FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE/AID I can get ?
and how to apply for the same ?

I will be grateful to you for this help .

Thanking you

with regards

MANAN SURI

Heh Indians in the comment section

ya…from the spellin ‘‘ADDMISSIONS’’ one can make out things…

Well it’s not really their fault at all. A combination of family circumstances, complete misinformation, lack of any form of counseling, and a vague desire to go ‘abroad’ will do that to you.

I’m actually quite sorry for them, not everybody has access to information about colleges in the US, and there are many who are quite desperate.

It’s that desperation that’s coming out, nothing else, so let’s not mock them, or laugh at them.

“There but for the grace of God, go I”

Though a guy from BITS-Dubai really should know better. :)

Shrivats, you have NOT seen the State papers. You’d commit suicide, if you do. Seriously.

ya…I was rolling in my seat when I saw so many things at a time…(just saved myself from fainting somehow…)…

Shrivats :  IITians are no better…I took my OS to IIT and they sent in Agriculture Dept Profs to take a look. I explained everything to them and told them about open source and stuff.

In the end, all they said was ’ We know you will commercialise this stuff!’ I said this is open source and I cant. They again repeated ‘We know you will’ Ass…

@ Kriti: I’m glad I haven’t… I’ve heard just about enough about them though. (I really can’t imagine studying under that syllabus, ever, thank God for ISC)

hehe…v can understand how u feel…we all hav undergone things like this…

watever it is…

Nickelback ROCKS!!!..youtube again…
