The Indian Thread (TiT) # 15

Yes. I’d like to major in Engineering.

anyone who has EDed Princeton here?

I have  and have obviously been deferred.

Hey you guys. (Was sleeping, me first afternoon siesta in, I don’t know, forever! :))

Thanks for the wishes… :), though CMU wasn’t one of our top choices, tis good to be in! :D

@Noldo: I know that feeling. I’m from a JIPMER, AIIMS, PGI family (Father was at all 3 for UG, G, and PG (God, I sound like a film censorship bureau :p). With heavy IIT and BITS influence in my mother’s family. (Oh and some Ivy and MIT heritage as well. :)))

Now that’s a heavy legacy to follow! :)

To Pyro: You’ll find that most of us are doing some form of Engineering/CS/Math.

I’m personally going into Physics and Materials Engineering, if I can. (And my mind doesn’t change :p)

K’s more into Engineering (undecided) at the moment, with possible International Relations with it.

I don’t think I’m going to major in engineering (yes, I know that I’ve said I would before, but I’ve settled on ‘no’) – especially not at Caltech, which is theoretical to the point of madness, and also has nice physics and maths departments. (Even if both departments contain a grand total of no female Indian undergraduates; oh well, someone has to do it first!) If I do end up in an engineer-y field, it will be comp. sci, but probably on the theoretical side of things.

And RD Princeton for me, not ED.

Same RD Princeton for me. RD nearly everywhere really. (EA to Harvard –> Defer)

Well then you’ll be a trailblazer Noldo! (Which would make you a flaming elf? ;))

Family education legacies are horrid, aren’t they? (Well, they’re obviously amazing and all, but they do contribute to the old inferiority complex a tad. A mere trifle.)

A flaming elf? DEAR GOD, SHRIVATS. :stuck_out_tongue:

suppresses urge to make Feanor joke

A trifle? Surely not (Which is of course the best form of saying no. :p)

A Piffle? Sure.

Congratulations at the twins! :D

I’m still alive… my parents think I’ve had enough of CC or something, they want me to study for the JEE. Boo.

Thanks Kriti…
Isn’t Oberlin enough then?

P.S: You’re alive? Now how do we know that? (Puts on monocle and assumes dry voice) :D

Congrats Twins

Well I am the last person to wish(:()

Ah no problem Abhi, tis appreciated all the same.

Can’t wait for the 29th. Likely we’ll have a huge cacophony of people all congratulating each other :).

I like the word cacophony, sounds strangely mellifluous. :D

Ouch! I’m a thread hibernator! :)

eh…13th minutes doesn’t count as hibernation

Ah well true… (But I like being a hibernator. Damn! :))

How many people here in the notacceptedanywhereyet club?

Not that many really, most have been accepted somewhere at least. Unlucky for you sp, but be assured, most of us are still mentally in the “I want to hear from the colleges I really want to go to” mood.

but being in the NAAY club is a different feeling all by itself! the wait is much more intense and scary!

by the way, is it grammatically incorrect to start a sentence with a “but”?

Depends, English grammar varies widely depending upon which school of thought you align yourself with, and where you’re from, so it must be correct somewhere! :)

(I’m a follower of the “sounds right” school ;))
