<p>bas – yes, but there tends to be more leeway in the US pool. (Not to brag or anything, but – I know six or seven US admits, and I can honestly say that I don’t really respect any of them.)</p>

<p>“Yeah, but I’m not going. I’m going to Stanford instead.”</p>
<p>“Why, what’s that? Why aren’t you going to MIT?”</p>
<p>“The weather is kind of cold and they focus mostly on the sciences and engineering.”</p>
<p>“But isn’t MIT ranked 1st?”</p>
<p>“Yeah, but Stanford is just as good.”</p>
<p>“You’re just saying that because you’re going there.”</p>

<p>“Did you get a scholarship at Stanford?”</p>
<p>“No, they don’t offer merit scholarships.”</p>
<p>“Can’t you give me your seat at MIT?”</p>
