The Indian Thread (TiT) # 15

Mine would be firstname@college.edu[that’s of course if i get into any college]

I am the only one in this world with this name(:D)

I searched for Indian Thread on Facebook, but it’s showing various groups related to KamaSutra()

how are you guys planning to spend your summers?

I want to intern, but can’t find any opportunities.

@Abhi…ROFL ! Same here !:D

http://git.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2256542611

Hmmm…it’s coming up for me.

Summer plans:
AP exams
Trip to China
Community College classes
Internship(not definite, still searching)
Read lots and lots of books
Get a head start on Stanford classes

I guess I’ll just do some “applying to colleges in the US” counselling and earn some money :D

Well we’ve both been awarded Lovett scholarships at Rice (half-tuition). Now we’re really confused! (not to mention happy)

Congrats!!!

congrats both of you!

I’m sort of deluged by questions from eager eleventh-graders who want to go to the US. I keep telling them I’m not the best person to ask, but they haven’t believed me yet. :p

Seriously, though, I’m off to Darjeeling for a bit (I think); after that, I’ll muck about, read my new quantum mechanics text (Liboff’s introductory text, if you’re curious, and so far I think it’s kicking my arse), try and get a head-start on complex analysis and things (I don’t want to be at the bottom of my college class, n’est-ce-pas?), and write a lot. No high-powered interning for me, thanks.

After all that, it’s England in early August (I’m allowed to have fun. Nyeh.), San Francisco near the end of August, and Pasadena in September. Woo.

& congratulations, Kaushik and Shrivats. Not that I’m especially surprised. :p

congrats k_twin! now make up each other’s mind, choose a college and join facebook!

i’ll spend my summer counselling eager Class XI losers…and basically lazing around…might even go on holiday.

and when i get to choose a college email id I"M CERTAINLY NOT GOING TO CALL MYSELF TAEMI ANYMORE!!!

great noldo will be travelling to my state and me to noldo’s (I might be going to Coorg this summer)

I’m sort of resident student guru on admissions (apart from the school’s guidance counselor), so I’ve been doing seminars and Q & A sessions throughout 12th, I’ll probably continue with that through at least a part of the summer. :)

snerks  Coorg’s lovely, although you’ll probably want to take the most comfortable car down you can – roads are in very bad shape. I mean, very.

Place is beautiful, though – high enough to have great weather, low enough not to give you frostbite – and there’s a fabulous Tibetan monastery on the way down that you should see, because it’s incredibly ornate and really quite interesting to poke around.

Yeah, I’ll stop being a travel guide now. :D

Kaushik – my school’s been asking someone-who-isn’t-me to give the wee hopefuls seminars and guidance. Turns out her help probably isn’t all that valuable, considering she was rejected everywhere. :stuck_out_tongue: (Why no, I’m not vindictive.)

Ah I visited the Coorg area a few summers back  (nice memories)

@ Noldo: Less of the school asking and more of me wanting to do it! (nice people, the junior batch :))

i’m not going to study anything till mid-april. then i’ll try to make a headstart while revising good ol’ calculus and organic chem.

any suggestions for a beginner’s guide to Mol. Bio.?

At what level?

Noldo: if you’re going to darjeeling, check out the Tibetan monastery at Ghoom. also be sure to stop at glenary’s for confectionary! ( i wonder if the place has become cleaner since i last went there…)

congrats twins! seriously this year of Indian’s must be the most brilliant ever!

As for summer, I’m going to go to India after 7 years…and meet my grandparents who live in the south. I havent seen them for over 10 years so, that should be great!
Going to Stanford to attend my brother’s graduation ceremony, comming back to Hong Kong, catching up with my freinds and partying a lot.
Towards, the end I will be reading, playing xbox, and brushing up my math and trying to learn calculus so I can do well at Wisc-Madison!

At what level? I dunno, beginner’s college…Mol. Bio. for Dummies? you know…
(i’m not exactly a dummy…but the Idiot’s Guide to Mol. Bio. goes way over my head!!!)
