The Indian Thread (TiT) #18

If Avatar wins Best Picture, it will probably be the weakest Best Picture of the decade and that’s saying something after the picture that won last year…kinda hypocritical because I haven’t seen Avatar, but from what I’ve heard it’s just visuals and nothing much else and a film like that shouldn’t win Best Picture.

Slumdog winning kinda makes me think it probably will win.

That defines everything these days. One big popularity contest. Poof.

Yeah. It’s just so sad. It’s bad enough that Slumdog won every major Best Picture over nominees like Milk and Ben Button, but the fact that it won and films like The Dark Knight and WALL-E didn’t even get *****in’ nominated, just because the first one is a “superhero movie” and the second one’s animated, is p.issing off.

I saw The Dark Knight for the first time a couple of days ago, and just…wow.

That said, I absolutely LOVED Slumdog, it was the most entertaining thing ever, I probably enjoyed it more than the other one, but The Dark Knight should’ve won the Oscar.

Slumdog was technically great. But the acting (except of the kids in the beginning) was so weak and some of the dialogues so unrealistic, that it never drew me in… i just felt like everything was so … fake…

The kids were adorable! The acting * was * fake although of course I had a huuuge crush on Dev Patel. Still, it drew me in.

I don’t know, I like cheesy, masterfully-packaged, colorful movies. shrug

Slumdog was a one-time watch.

Anyone seen Karthik Calling Karthik? How is it?

Kartik is schizophrenic.

i havent seen it. :D

Dude, did you HAVE to tell us that!?

well, it was basically just out of spite… a friend put it up as a status on facebook and spoilt my suspense. im just taking revenge in my own sick way.

Now I’m never watching the movie. :(

Thanks Quasi. Here is a picture of best buddies.

Here he is a picture I took when he was leaning on my shoulder. Taking this picture with left hand stretched out and holding the camera and subject steady was fun. A lucky shot I guess.

Main Bhi ^ is too lazy to type in hindi Par merey padhai aisey jaa rahi hai ki mujhey KAHIN BHI college main admission nahin milney walla. Excuse the TERRIBLE hindi, I probably raped a good few grammar rules there.

I find the Oscars very…strange. I can’t judge what they give awards based on, you know? Because if we’re talking about straight up film making…then there’re so many indie or mainstream or whatever’s in the middle films out there as good as the yearly nominees for best movie. Yet, it’s not supposed to be purely popularity…so what the hell is it?

That said, I liked slumdog, probs for the same reason Quasilicious does. Cheesy, well done, and well packed. Didn’t deserve best movie…but I think none of the nominees except Milk or maybe the Reader deserved even the nomination (but that’s just me, I’ll admit it, haha).

Speaking of Milk, I downloaded Milk because I wanted to watch it again. I love that movie so much, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside at some parts, and terribly depressed at others.

Sugarcult
i liked the reader.

मुझे कॉलेजों स्वीकार करो!

Hahahahaha Max that first picture is PRICELESS.

What was your favorite movie from last year, meghna? Milk?

AND HAPPY HOLI, EVERYBODY!!!

Can you believe Kaminey surpassed even Milk? I LOVED that movie so much. But if you’re talking about Oscar nominations, then yes, Milk!
