Gangsta Luv!!!

are u guys serious when u complain about isc and cbse? try IB.

We wish we could have.

ISC science is not a joke though, IB covers basically the same thing that it does.

pull in extended essays, TOk and IA’s into the picture.

I don’t really know much about ISC science, since I don’t have it.

I think we all just like cribbing about exams that take over a month to finish :)

Lol. Quasi, you know enough about ISC science

…Eh? No. I never had ISC science.

And cheese, point!

I have the easiest of the three streams (for me atleast, I’m a very maths/logic oriented person) and I must be b**ching more than all of the others put together about them. Because honestly, who jumps for joy at exam times, anyway? Atleast I’d have fun in IB.

The grass is always greener on the other side. The IB is no fun either when you have some gazillion submissions mounting throughout the year. That’s when you wish you’d stuck to the Indian system of studying for a month before your exams, and leading a somewhat sane life for the rest of the year. It’s sad there’s no utopia.

@Paradox7 i wished that every minute during the submission rush this year…

I don’t know much about ICSE but I have looked at some of the books used by ICSE students.

The impression I got is that IB is better for social studies and lanuages. IB math (HL) is on par with ICSE and ICSE Physics is better. Don’t know about Chem/Bio.

I like IB system where the load is distributed more or less uniformly over time. Don’t want to go through pressure cooker situations most ICSE go through during the finals.

u must be kidding. I do math SL… but HL is frikkin hard. ICSE/CBSE dont even come close… the subject matter might be similar but if you look at a paper… it’s not decipherable… my HL friends are having a real hard time…

I am doing Math HL and Physics (HL).

@Quasi: No, but you know enough “scienceys”!

^ Yeah the IB sciences don’t cover as much as ISC/CBSE. I did ICSE Biology and breezed through most of IB Biology HL, but the quantum of work is definitely higher with IB. The focus of IB is to make you work a lot in different areas simultaneously (breadth over depth), but the workload is incomparable to the Indian boards, even during final boards time. In that sense, IB is more of a pressure cooker, because not only do they expect you to work throughout the year on IAs, the EE, TOK etc., they also don’t necessarily de-emphasise exams/tests, so you have to balance both when the exams are around the corner. Also, IB exams are a lot more strenuous in some sense because you don’t have just one paper, but at least two (SL) or three(HL) separate papers covering different areas within a single subject. That doesn’t happen in the Indian boards, except for subjects like English. Also, I’ve seen a lot of people completely flunk the IB and absolutely nobody flunk ICSE/ISC in particular, including one girl who got 1/100 in Math, but was still awarded a Pass Certificate. Overall, IB wins for sheer pressure from the programme; the Indian boards provide less pressue from the programme, but more from other factors like personal achievement, societal and family pressure to do well, and depending on your goals, college admissions.

Lets freak out here

TELL ME HOW I’M SUPPOSED TO BREATHE WITH NO AIR.

It’s how I feel whenever you ain’t there.

hey hows the board exams coming along?
