13,000 is in the bag with today’s action. Believing that the market will go down to 12,000–so what does one do, if anything? Start trimming?

I will trim when the market goes up the next 100± points, in my opinion, a market that goes up with out much good news,on low volume, and reacts positively when Dragi says he will do ‘whatever necessary’ to support Euro is absolutley ludicrous…Seriously, what can Dragi do,besides print more money, float more debt…the problem is many countries in the Euro are broken, with high unemployment and disheartened populations…How does THAT get fixed…i would be more positve if volumes were higher, but the pros are just bidding the market higher…

I spoke with 2 friends this week, one a salesman, the other a small business owner…salesman isn’t selling much, boss is not happy…small business owner, who had revenues around 10 million in recent years is now around 2 milion…he is thinking of selling his 10,000 sf home, not because of mortgage problems, but property taxes of 30k…not sure i agree with his logic of selling for that reason…

We’re hiring like mad around here.

Brrr!! But it’s cold up there BCEAgle.

I jumped out of DUK today. Just too many flies buzzing around the stock since the merger with Progress Energy and the coup détat pulled by the Duke board by removing former PGN CEO Johnson. PGN was one of the stocks I bot in 2009 that Ive held and planned to hold for a long time because it was a good divvy play. Ill probably jump back in if the px drops back to my 2009 PGN entry point.

It’s pretty nice outside of the cold weather.
We don’t have earthquakes (that do any damage).
We don’t have tornadoes (outside of an average of two per year in the southwestern part of the state which is almost deserted).
We don’t get hurricanes (they fizzle out coming up the coast or inland).
We have enough water.
It doesn’t get too hot.
We have mountains.
We have beaches.
Low crime.
Access to great medical care.
No sales tax.
No income tax.

We’re hiring and our stock price is hitting all time highs every day - thanks to a large US chip company that a few weeks ago made a well publicized deal with us.

As far as the market is concerned, there was an interesting argument about why the market is going up on the noon time CNBC “Fast Money show”. Most thought the market was going up because of Draghi’s statements, somebody said Bernanke next week. The best comment was from Joe Terranova who basically said, “who cares why its going up it just is” and that money managers do not want to be behind the curve and will chase it higher. I think I agree with this and at times like this greed is in control and not rationality.

You got bought out by AAPL?

No we weren’t bought by anybody but a “partnership” with another chip company that has been discussed on this site. I don’t remember but you may have or had their stock.

Oh, Varian.

no - much much bigger - what’s the biggest company that you can think of that is involved in chips that go in pcs etc

“Who cares why it is going up, it just is”… Where have i heard that before, oh yea, when housing prices were going up, and we know how that ended…

exactly and if you’re a good trader, you’ll leave others holding the bag.

^^^lol^^^everyman for himself…i think Bernie Madoff went to jail for something pretty similar. ;)

No - you either hedge your positions or you get out of positions that are losing you too much money.

DocT,
you work for ASML, right?

I can neither confirm or deny your statement. LOL

I’ll take that as a [yes]

Well, what do you think the guy who has seen sales drop 80 percent should do?

Sell something else.

Tennis buddy of mine just started a new sales job a month ago. He’s been in training for a month. Talk about making a serious investment in a new hire! He’s in his 60s. His house isn’t 10K sf; maybe 4K. But he does have a clay tennis court in his back yard and a ton of woods.
