If I were asked to pick one, I’d choose SBUX over FB. I am not a fan of AMZN, but any good nes from them is good news for the local economy, and I’m happy about that.

Facebook has lost its luster with my older D’s… Twitter has taken over their social media(both are college aged) my Youngest D is into instagram and facebook

The 8/3 FB 20 puts are .2 - .25 and the 8/3 Sbux 45 puts are .24 - .26. I’m sure tomorrow morning I’ll be able to sell them or a lower strike at a better price. Depending on how the morning goes, I’ll probably grab some cat calls.

Rotated my AMZN to GOOG. I’m amazed that they are up after the earnings report yesterday. They earned a penny - inline with estimates; and forecasted a loss for the next quarter. Great company but in general, I prefer profits. I’m particularly happy to get out with a nice profit.

I’ve learned not to bet against AMZN. Both AMZN and GOOG have moved up since my morning transaction - AMZN probably more in percentage terms. I do like both of them long term.

Has there been any sort of big buzz on Google looking to get into the fiber optic business offering home internet & cable at speeds two orders of magnitude higher than current residential connections for the same price? I often wonder if Google is most interest in becoming that all-pervasive company (think of the autonomous cars they’ve been developing, trying to offer free wi-fi for entire cities, etc) than maximizing short term profits.

Google typically always has a lot of research and pilot projects running - most fizzle. I get 25 mb down for $50/month. I used to have $3 mb down for $39/month. I see that Verizon offers 100 mb down (don’t know the price) but not in my state. 25 mb down is way more than I need - I think that I’d be happy with 6 - 9 mb down. In many cases, the extra speed doesn’t matter because the speed of the server controls how fast you get stuff.

ComCast is up around 100 mb down. I don’t think that I’d notice any difference between 100 mb and 1,000 mb down. I’d most likely have to replace my modem/router and a switch or two to take advantage of those speeds which would be about a $250 investment.

There has been talk of GOOG becoming a mobile phone company but it never really happened.

I like that the company experiments around with this stuff overall but I wouldn’t take one particular project and project that it will take over the world. They do a lot of experiments and some of them are big winners and they do well with that model.

How about their offer of 5 Mbit up/down for a $300 one-time payment? Also, totally wish I had those speeds and prices available in my area. You’d think in Los Angeles there would be decent competition, but if I want anything over lower-tier DSL plans it quickly jumps to $50+ a month. And cable internet with our provider is pretty crazy overpriced unless you also subscribe to their TV services. :(
