Went to cash this morning. It’s been a great year. Up over 14% so far.

GOOG trade was out of this world!

BTW, we were having the discussion last night and this morning about taking profits off the table, either with going to cash or cutting down position sizes. I like to go completely to cash every once in a while and then just relax for a while.

When there are sellers every where FB will drop to a short term low. Once it hits that low, sell the naked puts or buy the stock for a later trade up when the selling stops.

I only sell cash secured puts never naked puts. That being said, are the 8/3 FB 20 puts that I had bought for .32 and rolled them out to 8/18 19 puts for .66 going to be in the money on Friday?

I think FB will be down Friday even more. Today’s volume was nearly as high as the first day of trading and it went down on the day after the first day.

“Declining volumes on global stock markets appear to show that real money trading activity is at decade lows, according to a new report from Credit Suisse, and investors believe volumes will stay low for two more years unless global resolutions to the risks of the economic crisis are found.
Credit Suisse’s report on trading activity shows that over the past four years, volumes in equity markets have been steadily falling and are now at half the level seen in the middle of the credit crisis - and traders fear they could get worse.
After surveying trade desks in the U.S., Europe and Asia, the report found that 76 percent of institutions are trading “a lot less”, with 35 and 40 percent of desks responding that they were trading “well below average - down 20 percent” and “below average - down 10 percent” respectively.”

DD who had never mentioned shares or Dow or IPO inquired if I was going to put money in FB at the IPO. On hearing that, I should have trusted my instincts and shorted right then and there…

Any ideas with how to protect 545 9/22 aapl calls? Put spreads are too expensive including the ratio ones. Combining the put spread with writing calls doesn’t buy me much as I still can’t reduce the cost that much unless the calls that I write aren’t that far from the current price. I’m thinking of selling the 545 and buying the 600 which still gives me a delta close to .9 and I’m pocketing the $55 difference.
