The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

Jim Cramer is interviewed here. He is detailing how the market is manipulated. If true, it is scary how little it takes.

[Jim Cramer admits to manipulating the market. [VIDEO]](http://www.wimp.com/manipulatingmarket/)

He also ended up being investigated by the sec

^That doesn’t make what he says untrue.

Actually, that sort of gives him more credibility on the issue.

[Jim Cramer - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Jim Cramer - Wikipedia)

I don’t have a problem with some of what Cramer said.

I have a problem with anybody sending out false rumors or telling people to buy a stock and after you tell them selling the stock.

Trying to push a stock down when you are short by seliing it or selling a derivative or buying a stock to get it higher, I don’t have a problem with that. You are risking your money.

Now if you have a fiducuary duty to a client and the client wants to buy a stock and you buy in front of the client, I have a problem with that.

As far as telling people like Pisani some bs so it gets on the air so you can get out of a position… Working with a stock analysis firm to put out
nonsense so you can trade against the misinformation…that’s wrong. It happens.

Cramer’s trading is restricted by CNBC which is a good thing. I do
wonder if he tries to help his friends. He was pushing Vonage awhile
back. Come on Cramer…

CNBC was hyping the crap out of the Blackstone Group when Blackstone was doing its IPO. It looked incestous.

The on air people of CNBC, Fox Business, Bloomberg, etc have to get their info from pros. Everything said about stocks on these networks and other sources is suspect.

I try to watch Cramer’s show every business day but this is always at the back of my mind.

I try never to watch Cramer’s show “Fast Money” because it’s garbage, but I do like him on one of the version’s of Squawk Box.

Cramers’ show is Mad Money. Fast Money is hosted by Melissa Lee with traders like the Najarian brothers, Terranova, Adami, Weiss, Finerman and Seymour.

Sometimes, Cramer will pump stocks such as LULU and CMG and you can ride the wave up.

One of the problems with Fast Money is the advice they give is after they have already done what they recommend.

Mad Money…that’s right.

Fast Money…you are always told after the trade and what percentage of the time are you told they are out?

I guess if you are told the guys on Fast Money are out, it is also after the fact and if you are never told…

Exactly. Now I’ve got to figure out how to minimize my loses tomorrow and Wednesday.

So what’s the plan?

That’s true DocT. You watch FM enough, you’ll see a trend: Pumping a stock then a couple of days later he dumped it talking about why he sold the stock. I guess that’s why they call it Fast Money.

I’m starting to work on it. One thing for sure is I’m not holding goog to the close and earnings. My max loss is 3 to 700. I did this when the stock was at 740. I thought the 700 support would hold and am surprised that the stock has been dropping particularly with aapl dropping at the same time. There is no way that before the 25th, it is getting back to 740 and I doubt the 700 will hold.

At 700 Is your max loss 3 bucks before earnings in goog? I see where it is at expiration. Do you have one of your short put spread long call spreads in goog?

Isn’t it possible that the put spread will rise in value and the call spread drops in value at 700 so before earnings you can lose more than 3 bucks?

To lose 3 bucks when a stock is down 35 is not bad.

yes and before expiration, you are correct, I lose more than 3 which makes the decision to sell or hold tomorrow more difficult

Yeah…

I lose 11.77 if I sell tomorrow at 700.

What is the maximum loss if the stock gets hit and you hold it to expiration? The max gain was pretty high if I remember right…

Ok …I see max gain is 17…

The max gain was ~17 and the max loss ~3 to 700 at expiration. The max loss if it drops through my 670 call is 33.09. I may be able to buy the 700 put, sell the 670 put, buy back the 760 call, sell the 720 call which cuts my loss to 670 but insures a loss - I’m still playing around with the numbers. It looks like my best bet is to get out tomorrow.
