The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

sometimes you win and sometimes you lose - good thing I had that 505 - 480 put spread

What do you have on now doct?

Last week made 74,000 percent.

This week lost 100 percent.

Average 36,950 percent.

Just kidding. :)

I need aapl to bounce 20 bucks.

Volatilty is going to be CRUSHED.

I spent the whole day mis-timing every trade. I can’t believe netflix jumped so much. Apple got crushed and I wonder how much it will go down tomorrow when the regular market opens.

I think most of the moves will be in the after hours market.

You look at google or ibm or whatever…most stocks make their moves in the after market. Right now aapl is trading below 485.

I need aapl to have an amazing conference call.

I guess I @@@@@@ away that bet.

I guess that guy who said aapl is a buy, DeMark or whatever his name is, isn’t looking so sharp.

These fast money guys are so full of crap. Institutions are sooooo long this stock. It’s not just the public.

Apple at $463 at 5:30 p.m. Wow!

Wow… They goodness I had call spreads on…

This is one of the things that drives me nuts. AAPL disappoints so they trot out the Applbear, the guy with the $425 forecast… this year… I mean this quarter… I mean, tonight. If AAPL had a great report I am sure they had 5 AAPLbulls ready and waiting to revise their price targets to 1000, 1500… and higher. NFLX what a joke! Actually that one I love watching, knowing that a good part of the price action is shorts getting crushed.

Yeah…

This is the first day I have watched both the afternoon version of Fast Money and now Mad Money in a very long time. I am turning the channel now. I guess I will use the internet to get stock quotes. It is difficult to watch these shows.

Aapl is close to a yearly low, a round trip, after coming out with both iphone5 and the
ipad mini.

Wow, this feels like dot com burst mini.

I had 2 480 - 565 call spreads and 2 535 - 510 put spreads. I also have 5 440 - 530 call spreads and 5 505 - 480 put spreads. I sold the first 2 late today when aapl was up around 514. I held onto the 5 contracts figuring that the stock would not get below 480. I guess I was wrong on that. I expect perhaps a bit of a bounce back from the current 463 either tomorrow or Friday.

Well…it was good that you got rid of the first 2 spreads.

All my call spreads are going out worthless. I am still up on aapl in the last week.

I don’t know why I didn’t buy the put spreads instead. I almost bot put spreads today, but I was too cheap.

I didn’t even like aapl. :)

480 could help you big time. I need 510.

Is aapl really done? I expect something in the pipeline as Cook said “Chock full”

dstark, "Volatilty is going to be CRUSHED. "

Could you ellaborate?

In aapl, Option premiums are going to drop now…

If you don’t trade aapl options, don’t worry about it.

Tomorrow may be a good opportunity to buy the q’s. When I rolled out my positions in iwm, and spy, I didn’t with qqq - somewhat expecting they may get hit by apple today.

The lsst I looked, the qqqs were down 1.5 percent. Aapl is what? 15 percent of the qqqs?

aapl will whack more than just itself.

Wow…the vix is 12.46…

Does that mean we are too complacent?

Maybe…

Sorry…I wish I knew.
We could just end up with a low volatility period of time. The market has been rising with a low vix.

QE has an affect on the vix. QE lessens volatility.

For those of us who like to sell options, or use covered writes in our portfolio, the lower volatility of options is going to hurt our returns. We aren’t going to get as much money for selling options.

Ray Dalio was on CNBC today.
He was one of the better guests. He talked about using leverage to
increase his fixed
income returns. I wanted to know how he does that. The CNBC talking heads didn’t pursue that area.

I guess he has used zeroes in the past. Interest rates have declined for
over 30 years so zeroes worked well. I wanted to know how he would use leverage in a rising interest rate environment. I think Ray expects higher rates. Ray also helped design TIPS but now TIPS don’t have real returns plus inflation. I wanted to know what Ray thought about that.

For CNBC, Ray’s interview was long, so I guess I should be happy.
