The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

:)…

Surprised that no one here has posted this

Which has it moving up along with the non-negative response to Einhorn’s plea for cash. (As far as Einhorn goes, I wish his big pockets had wound up owning my Mets rather than the sorry Wilpons, who won’t spend money on the team but are floating the idea of a casino at Citi Field.)

A casino…echhh…

Is anyone buying/selling Apple this morning?

I own 3/16 aapl 460 - 480 call spreads. Until yesterday I thought it was dead money - maybe not anymore.

Nice. I don’t really understand what that means except to know t is good.

I sold 2 of the aapl 465 puts that expire today. Make 46 bucks back if they expire worthless. :)

I like this comment: When the dumb money realizes how dumb it is and buys an index fund, it becomes smarter than the smartest money," and typically outperforms about three-quarters of the Street’s brightest and highest paid stars.

I have to say I am quite happy to take over our finances from smart people and put it all in index funds. It has done just as well. No fees, better tax management. Except Apple that is.

Housing got crushed, but it is improving.

Where I live, people are remodeling again. The constuction business is very busy.

I see that the DDD 55 puts that expire next week traded at .14. Since they trade in .05 cent increments some institution bought that order. Paid a penny for that order. This means that those of us at .15 get screwed. We don’t get filled and the institution that bought the order can lean on us all day long and trade in front of us.

I threw up a link about increasing tick sizes from a penny to something wider on stocks that are small cap. This is the downside. If firms can buy order flow, traders andinvestors that use limits and don’t hit the bid and offer are screwed. The market might be .10 bid at .15 offer and because institutions are buyung order flow, the real market might be .11 bid at .14 and the public can’t participate on that market. Firms like Getco can. When you read why firms like Getco are pushing for changes of tick sizes, they aren’t doing this for the investing public.

On the plus side, the buyer of the DDD 55 puts got a better price by .01.
Since I am a seller…like I said, I am not happy about this. :)

I have a 1% stop on BCE if anyone is still following this. There’s still a little more room to run on it.

I am guessing 475 on aapl at the close give or take a .25 cents…

I am not playing it because…

I could be wrong…

I am not doing anything elsewhere to pay for that bet…

I have several orders in but it looks like i am not getting anything done today…

I have been the ask price for a couple of orders for hours and nothing.

Maybe the storm is hurting volume.

I don’t know…it is not snowing here. :)

I just heard some guy on cnbc recommend bce - any thinking on this? I guess the stock is down today because of the miss on earnings. I don’t know anything about this company except that it has a high yield.

I see that aapl closed 474.98. :)

I was able to sell some spy puts the last 15 minutes…

And sold 2 ddd puts for .10 for a total of 20 bucks. Except the commission was 10 bucks. That’s not good. And somebody stepped in front of me and bought the order, and sold the puts for .09. Not good for me either.

Well…not the most productive day. :)

Good job on 474.98! So on Fridays do people know what the closing price will be?

No. I know. ;)

The answer is no.

Good for you. I am impressed. Do you have an opinion when I can get out of Apple? My life would be so simple once I liquidate all my aapl shares.

No. I don’t know that. Nobody knows that so you are not alone.

Congrats on owning aapl.

I see this frequently - why can’t we do this and they can?
