Well, you did better than me doct. I paid .65 for mine.

This is the first time you ever lost selling puts?

I made money overall in ddd puts too because I was also short the 55 and 50 puts.

For next week I am just short a few of the 50 puts. I will not trade as large next week in ddd.

I am done with bbry too.

I don’t know what I am going to do with myself next week. :)

Notrichenough,
I don’t know your plan. I don’t know what you want in a phone or anything.
But you can get the iphone 4 for nothing except taxes and I think it is about 45 bucks a month at verizon.

The monthly costs did not increase for me with the the switch to a smart phone.

I just read that once the contract expires, customers can have the provider unlock the phone and the bill gets much lower. I may just move out of AT&T. They have been padding my bill adding a few unauthorized services. This is the third month I called them to remove unauthorized charges. Did this happen to anyone else?

"This is the first time you ever lost selling puts? "

I guess my comment requires an explanation. I never lost on these because I’ve always been able to roll them out so the total was positive. The two I had the most difficulty with last year were intc and cat which I had to roll out 3 times but ended up with a substantial profit in cat.

I pay $75/month for AT&T iPhone service. I could actually get by with the 300 MB plan for about $45/month (employer discount) but I have to get the 5 GB plan to get the wireless hotspot feature. The wireless hotspot allows me to work wherever I want to and not rely on a cafe’s free WiFi. The freedom to do that has value to me so I go with the more expensive data plan. I need the relative freedom for three or four months - after that I’ll decide on whether I want to keep it or go with a lower level of service.

When you plug it into the charger, the screen should display a big picture of a battery and the size of the green bar indicates the level of charge. You can also change the settings to indicate the battery percentage remaining - if the number goes up over time, then it’s charging. I would have preferred that to be the default mode.

$75? Nice! I am paying about $140. When they slip in an insurance policy I had declined the bill goes up to about $150-160.

About charging the phone, when charging is in progress there’s a lightening mark on the tiny battery icon. When the lightening mark changes to a plug, charging is complete.

When I signed up, I looked at the plans from all three providers (back then). Verizon had a plan for about $180/month (not including taxes and fees). No wonder they want to get people off those unlimited data legacy plans. I’d guess that those plans provide value to some customers out there. The corporate discount helps too.

The thing I like about AT&T is that you can change the plan when you want to. Perhaps Verizon and Spring work the same way. I picked AT&T because I like their coverage (we have Verizon 3G and AT&T 4G in our area; Verizon 3G is awful; AT&T 4G is pretty good; we don’t have LTE so AT&T was the easy choice - that and they had cheaper plans than Verizon did). In Boston, there’s LTE but I spend far more time in NH than in Boston.

On charging: I bought a second charging cable shortly after getting the phone. I have one at home and one in the office which I run off a computer. If you spend a lot of time outside of your home, then you might want to get a second charging cable to use off your car or office.

I only sold the puts in ddd because the volatility was very high. I figured the split would keep buying interest high and selling interest lower.

The split is coming up so in my eyes the risk is going to increase in about a week. It can be argued that the split will bring in more buyers. If I felt the company was slightly more stable I might continue playing, but this is a stock where you can sell a put for .50 and see it trade at 5 to 10 bucks. A 5 percent move in a day in ddd does not seem like a big deal.

I also think investors pay too much for growth. High Growth doesn’t continue forever.
I don’t know what is wrong with paying 50 times earnings for some stock growing at 25 percent a year. No. You have to pay 90 times earnings.

The other thing thst amazes me is some investors look at a stock price and think, $10 a share is cheaper than $20 so, stocks that trade at 10 a share are better bargains than stocks that trade at 20. There is no understanding of shares outstanding, debt in a company, cash flow, capital structures. Blows my mind.

That and the fact the Wapner guy is clueless. Really clueless. He is adisservice to the viewers. Icahn was super patient with him today. I don’t think I would
have had that much patience.

I watched the Najarian brothers and I like them, but they make things sound easier than they are. My ex partner had a similar set up to look for rare option volume. The traders are getting smarter though. Option volume is harder to read. Somebody buys puts in a stock which would make traders think he is bearish, but the trader is also buying stock which option traders can’t see. The put buyer is really bullish.

Also…the comments that hey this option is up 2500 percent is going to cause people to lose a lot of money. Optionsdo expire worthless.

“On charging: I bought a second charging cable shortly after getting the phone. I have one at home and one in the office which I run off a computer. If you spend a lot of time outside of your home, then you might want to get a second charging cable to use off your car or office.”

Ok. Thanks.

I have no idea how much people are using their cell phones. VZ has some new family plans…well new to us. I think cell phone pricing should be checked periodically for those
care. We have a family plan . We just added 2 smart phones. Our costs are a few bucks lower a month.

Igloo, I had several $10/month “services” (bogus) slip onto my ATT wireless bill, the last one even after I had supposedly locked out subscriptions to these scams. 4 phone family plan so the bill goes on forever and has all kinds of little charges on it, so a $10 charge that is for an unwanted and unordered service can be hard to spot.

A friend told me he pays $10 a month for cell phone service. His wife pays $10 a month. I was surprised how low that was. They don’t know own smart phones.
