The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

I lost money today but not as much as I feared in the morning. My qcom 65 put may be in trouble tomorrow - qcom closed at 64.82. I would be surprised if the market is down 3 days in a row so I expect it to be up tomorrow.

I think you are in good shape. Qcom is trading up slightly in the after hours. The qqqs are trading up in the after hours a little bit. Iwm is up a 1/4 of a percent. Not too many huge gains but things are ok.

hpq is doing well in the after hours which should give a bit of a push on tech tomorrow. I’m getting ready to probably buy iau 14 calls tomorrow.

Ok. Good luck.

Doug Kass is bearish saying it looks like 1987 again. Carter Worth says he is bearish. So why does Razorsharp want to be bullish at S&P 1500?

Gartman sold everything - that’s the most bullish thing I’ve heard of for a long time.

Now if Marty Zwieg said it I’d listen: [Part 1 - Before the Crash - Wall Street Week October 16, 1987 - YouTube](<a href=“Part 1 - Before the Crash - Wall Street Week October 16, 1987 - YouTube”>Part 1 - Before the Crash - Wall Street Week October 16, 1987 - YouTube)

Complaining about computerized trading in 1987. :)

In 1987, what Marty said seemed more dire. The market didn’t bottom until Dec 1987. Marty was great.

I like Doug Short even though he has a negative tone in his posts.

I am long aig…so today should be better than yesterday.

Not a very robust up day. Maybe there is more of a fade the rally instead of buying the dips with 3/1 around the corner.

I liked your spy trade. Can’t do it for a credit anymore.

I just sold more Spy 143 puts that expire next week.

I sold some ddd puts that expire today.
Hlf puts thst expire next week.
A goog put that expires next week.

It is kind of a boring rally. Not robust.

Einhorn wins the first round.

Krlilies, I have shorted naked calls several times this year usually in tlt. No short calls for me right now.

I don’t know if I can short naked calls in schwab or not - I don’t think so. I rolled out qcom 2/22 65 puts to 3/16 62.5 puts for a net gain of .41. I expect the sequestration nonsense to be resolved by then.

There are different levels of option trading allowed. Your level is listed on one of the option trading screens. You can apply to be level 3 approved.

I have level 3

Then u should be able to sell naked calls.

Can’t be level 3 in a retirement account like NJres.

Dstark, too early for you to talk about naked calls. The association is still there. I need to scrub, scrub, scrub it out. I need to look at a lot of numbers before the image is deleted from my temporal lobes.

Yes - I noticed uncovered calls in level 3. However I’m the same level 3 in etrade which doesn’t include this. There is a level 4 in etrade for naked calls

Etrade makes it easier to lose your shirt - futures, global, forex

I don’t know how etrade works. How do u decide which firm to use for your trades?

Krlilies, don’t scrub too hard. I can still wear the suit I was married in 30 years ago. I look pretty damn good if u like the Fred Astaire type. ;)
