The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

I wish I had known how to buy vix options

What did Bernanke say? It was all green earlier.

Probably that the budget cuts through sequestration will be damaging.

Looks like I did quite well on my calls last year. I knew the market and the price behavior of the stocks that I wrote calls on.

The problem is that I was pretty comfortable and confident in the environments last year (really last spring). I wasn’t really comfortable writing calls for the rest of the year so this isn’t really a reliable way for me to make money on a regular basis. It seems that some times are easy and other times are uncertain.

“It seems that some times are easy and other times are uncertain.”

That sounds right to me.

I have an order to short a couple of puts in goog. I have the best offer in the world. Lol
I may not get filled.

By that you mean you’re selling goog puts. At what date and strike? The vix hit 19 yesterday. How much has the volatility increased in goog?

I want to get filled before I say.

The vol is a good question. I don’t care in goog. I don’t see a huge change From.last week.

Nice on the gold.

Nothing done. That pop in the market my chances.

I may be selling that gold position tomorrow.

That was a nice move.

The 3/1 dia 136.5 puts are .22

U like that sell?

1.5 percent move… Hmmm

I just can not get in trouble this week…

That’s a pretty damning bank article

Why is it not in the mainstream news media? IMO, this is why we should have a small government. With a big government, the connected who know how to game the system benefit the most. Whatever their intentions are, the government is no match against savvy and greedy business interests vying for a piece.

Some comments from Whitman about HP - personal sales of PCs are 28% of revenues but only 10% of operating income. HP is winning sales abroad selling very inexpensive computers to a lot of people that don’t have a lot of money.

PC sales are not doing well in the US according to an industry report that came out a few days ago.

What do you do after you buy a Hawaiian island?

You buy a Hawaiian airline to go with it!

The banks have a lot of power obviously. They are disgusting for lack of a better word. The big banks would not exist without the government’s help. Yet the top bank executives try to come off as brilliant people and maybe they are. They know how to play the system.

BCEagle91, that is a nice pension. sounds like it is larger than a friend of mine who worked for Dec. I guess because you know the value of your pension…you already did this…
