I guess you aren’t going to buy a google glass.

Interesting link on the smartphones and the age of the software in the phones.

What if google glass sells for more than $400? The iphone 5 is more than 400…

I don’t know if I want to be that distracted by an object…

But it is interesting to walk around and look at people that are so involved in their phones.

I can see people use google glass when their hands are in use elsewhere. I can see many people wearing these in a gym. Hopefully, on a nature walk, the google glass will be left at home.

I’d be the person who would walk into a pole if I wore those. I have a hard enough time with a smartphone. What happens if you wear prescription glasses?

Google glass is an experiment. I’m sure that the glasses could be made so that other people didn’t know that you were wearing them and there could be features put in place so that you aren’t distracted when doing certain activities. The current approach has you looking at a particular spot but I could envision an overlay on the whole lens at some point too.

I’m not bothered that it looks clumsy and has a lot of problems - I’m more excited that they are playing around with this stuff. I like to see companies experimenting. The experiments of the Internet companies in the late 1990s yielded many good ideas (the implementations were poor back then) that have born fruit many years later.

Dstark, you dont need 5M to invest in that fund since its one of the 401k options. So I guess its a back door way into the institutional funds.

Presuming investors are in in the correct fund. If you invested $10k in Fidelity Growth & Income back in 1995 @25.50, the fund is now trading @23.40. Fidelity Magellan 1999@127 is now $79.

How do you avoid getting mugged with the Google glasses on? Does it upload to the cloud the image of any person you encounter? Maybe it has the capacity to download ninja skills to your brain when it senses danger.

That was one of my concerns in buying one. Why can’t someone just grab it off your head and run with it? I can generally take off a pair of glasses pretty easily. I’m sure someone could walk up behind you and grab the thing and run.

If you’re walking around in dangerous areas, I guess you’d want the Google Terminator 3 arm with a built-in flamethrower.

One of my problems with mutual funds is in trusting the manager. It would be different if I knew the manager. I did have lunch with a fund manager (he was managing $40M at the time). He went on to manage a $1b fund and now is managing a private fund. Very smart guy - incredibly efficient with his time. I think that he got most of his analytical work done in two or three hours a day.

I just had this conversation with my son. He started his new first job today. He visited his best friend over the weekend who had just been converted from independent contractor to salaried by his employer and actually took a pay cut. I asked my son about his friend’s benefits (presumably better as a salaried employee) and my son said, "Dad, when we talk about our jobs we don’t ask, ‘So how’s your dental coverage?’ " LOL

The AAPL chart has it in a downtrending channel.

Apple still has a big lead in apps and I think that sells a lot of iPhones. I’m happy with the size, battery life and the device overall but I would like an easier way to charge it. I’d be fine with a dock.

The Nexus 7 has these three metal pins on the side. They just started selling a dock which is a stand and charger and audio out. It’s $30 and they can’t keep it in stock. I’m going to get one as I like the idea of just dropping the Nexus 7 into the doc and it charging. It will also make a nice stand for when I use it to do workout videos. Right now I lean it against something.

There are these relatively small innovations in the Android ecosystem which make it better and better.

I like the idea of a better camera in the S4 too. 8MP is pretty good but there are times when more is better - particularly when using the camera as a scanner.

There were articles out today on suppliers - one guy that’s usually bullish on AAPL charts how their main suppliers are doing and they aren’t doing well.

hmmm… someone lit a fire under AAPL, just in the past 20 minutes or so, almost enough to make one search for “news”… 10 points in 15 minutes gets my attention.
