The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

Who said the market is rational?

IBD changed its market call to Market in Correction.

David Kneupper issued a sell today - well his charts issued a few sell signals on the $compq.

Ibd’s calls are bouncing around…

By the way the guys at ibd have an institutional service.

Well, we might be in a sideways chop mode in a wide range. Those drive trend-traders up a wall. They certainly drive me up a wall.

Yeah…these up and down going nowhere markets can chew up a little capital.

"$7 is $7. You did much better than John Paulson."

I made 7 on that trade but lost my shirt on everything else but not as bad as Paulson though.

Paulson is going to do a lot better than people who invested with him. I wonder what his high water mark is?

The idea of trend-trading is that markets are 1/3rd bull, 1/3rd bear, 1/3rd sideways. So you should win 2/3 times and chew up capital in sideways stuff. I personally prefer to sitout sideways stuff. Or just stay in if I think that the trend will continue after the sideways stuff. Great time to work, work out or read a couple of books.

Out of curiosity, anyone here using a PC that would like auto-correct on posting to CC? Browsers have spell-check which is nice (underlines unrecognized words with a red squiggly) but my son asked me if there’s an extension to do auto-correct like you have in phones and tablets. I couldn’t find anything for Firefox and Chrome though Internet Explorer 10 has this feature. I was thinking of implementing this in Firefox. I have seen users request it on Firefox forums but I’m surprised that noone has implemented something like this, perhaps as an extension.

I expect to sell goog puts on Friday morning.

I think GOOG will disappoint tomorrow and the stock will tank.

Big earnings winner today was PTP.

That is what I expect also - that’s why I want to sell the puts on Friday.

Leavitt Brothers index charts. $INDU, $COMPQ trendlines are intact. $SPX, $RUT, $MID support lines broken though not by much. (BTW, this is a business blog, not a personal blog).

Long QLD for a daytrade.

This is difficult because it is going up and looks like it can keep going up, but I am going to sell my few remaining shares of VZ… or at least sell some calls. The declining dividend yield and dividend coverage ratio no longer makes sense to me. Is this a big growth stock/industry?

Mobile is growth. We’re far from saturation.

Stopped out. Wonder if that was the bottom though.

^^I don’t think so. aapl and goog are getting crushed today. I unloaded my 4/20 qqq calls today at a loss. This market is looking cra**y.

Some of the stronger names are giving it up. Intel is still rising though.

Both the q’s and the spy look like they are at some major support levels
