[Gold Bears Defy Rally as Goldman Closes Short Wager: Commodities - Bloomberg](<a href=“Bloomberg - Are you a robot?”>Bloomberg - Are you a robot?)

Looks like GS is leaving the hedgehogs holding the short bag. Record short contracts? Looks like a pretty crowded trade now. I wonder how narrow the exits are.

RacinReaver, I really appreciate your post. I am not a gamer and I had no clue what msft is doing with the Xbox.

On a different note, I also am amazed by what I write sometimes using an iPhone. I never knew I knew some of the words I read in my posts. Must be my unconscious coming thru. Lol

The equity futures markets are dead right now…

Since the analysts were wrong about the first part of the earnings season, we should believe them now: [US Earnings Beating Forecasts but Jury’s Out on Rest of Season](US Earnings Beating Forecasts but Jury's Out on Rest of Season)

Are those lowered forecasts? I’m willing to stay in for the beating the lowered forecasts game but only for so long. Of course the Fed pump is another factor. Any guesses on whether they bump the $85 billion higher this summer?

What have we done? If the playing field wasn’t level before 2008, it is tilted even more now. I wonder if we just level the field, we may be able to do away with or reduce social programs by providing an avaerage worker with good oppotunities. That is doing more social good than protecting SS or welfare except for the very poor. I think we are fighting a wrong enemy.

Igloo, it is strange. Banks are too big too fail. There is a financial crisis. Now the biggest banks are bigger.

Is this a Monty Python skit?

Can’t be real…

Nice little pop in AAPL. I just need another $2 or $3. I’m trying to decide whether to hold out for $434 (friend has that level on his weekly). PSEC and PBA are still running away from me (I’m waiting for a dip to buy them).

One of my accounts is up $17K this morning. No clue if it holds but this market is completely insane.

Those are nice problems to have…

One thing my “buddy” Jimmy Cramer would always say: “if you’re making too much money, watch out, its a caution sign”

I know. It can mark irrational exuberance. There have been times in the past where I was making money so easily and of course a crash then followed. That’s all fine but it’s hard to get out of your positions that have done so well. I’m a lot better in that area today - I’m more of a mercenary and have to work not to become emotionally attached to stocks. A good test of that was riding AAPL up and then dumping it when it looked like the trend was no longer in force. I still am quite attached to PBA because I’ve had it for a decade and it’s treated me well.

The stuff with Goldman and Gold is a good example. Goldman probably made a fortune on their gold shorts but knew when to get out. The hedgies probably have made a lot of money but might be caught now - trying to get out could cause a big squeeze.

My streamer (these are real-time charts):

http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/232/streamerp.jpg</a></p>

Where do you get this?

The program is called Medved QuoteTracker. It’s a Windows Application and has been around since about 2000. It uses about 8% of a 2008 Merom-based laptop and uses about 20 MB of RAM, an order of magnitude less than the current crop of power trading platforms. Ameritrade bought QuoteTracker and then tried to kill it off pushing their TOS platform (Java-based, doesn’t do all of the real-time charts, uses a ton of memory and CPU). So Ameritrade distributes it but the last version that they put out doesn’t work. The original author put out a patch update so that you can apply the patch to the Ameritrade kit and it will work. I use it with streaming quotes from Ameritrade or Etrade. I’ve been using it since around 2001 or 2002.

Still in qld and id it going higher?

The $COMPQ is above 3,300 which is hasn’t seen since the tech bubble. Techs on my screen are doing well except for AMZN and ORCL. AAPL is now above my price target. I don’t know what to do about that!

The s&p is getting near the 1600 level. It might be time to buy some protection.

Look at the image that I posted. It shows my positions and gains. I assume that everyone here made a killing today.

No killing here, only up $4300

I think that anyone around here would be more than happy with that.
