The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

Schwab and etrade show vlo up more than 4%, cnbc shows it down more than 4%. I guess cnbc is not taking into account the cst spinoff correctly.

Sounds right.

Should have bought some of those cboe recommended goog option trades

Yeah… Goog is doing well…

Mosf stocks are…

What kind of historical returns do you see may thru sept?

I like that the writer talks about the returns… I think he is leaving out div.

The capital appreciation is good, but i have a feeling investors dont know cap aporeciation is not 10 percent a year. That is an opinion.

If the jobs number is bad and the market goes down - I’m buying. If the job number is good and the market goes up - I’m buying. I guess I’m buying tomorrow no matter what.

I found this interesting…

I don’t know how long controlling or cutting costs can work.

I sold the crap out of tsla may 10 42 puts today…

I guess I think they are going to expire worthless…

I shouldn’t be doing this…

Tsla earnings come out next week.

[Climate Good for Earnings, Not Jobs: Perelman - Yahoo! Finance](http://finance.yahoo.com/news/climate-good-earnings-not-jobs-122916783.html)

As we know, the rich are getting richer. What are the rich buying? We’ll find out if it’s Teslas. BTW, I suggested that Tesla looked like a short to a friend. He said that he couldn’t short the company because he liked the product.

Kind of like AAPL.

Tsla is a hard to borrow stock…

Does your friend trade options?

He doesn’t trade options.

Ok…np.

It looks like it costs 2 percent a month or so to borrow tsla to short it.

As a data point, out here in my area of Los Angeles I’ve seen a handful of Fiskars, but no Teslas yet. Then again, it might just be the Fiskars is a little more unique looking, so I don’t just assume it’s a Ferrari or something.

There are a fair number of Teslas on the East Coast in the Mid-Atlantic Region - they have filling (electricity) stations at some of the rest stops. This was from the article that criticized the NY Times piece on Tesla issues.

I just saw a tesla last week and talked to the owner. He loved the car. The car looked great to me, but I didn’t drive it or anything.

Tsla already said it was profitable last quarter and the stock has surged. I guess one question is how profitable? And of course what does the future hold is another question.

Why are you buying tomorrow no matter what, DocT? What is special about tomorrow?

I have never seen a fiskar or if I have I didn’t notice. Prius is the number 1 car here.

I agree with Bob Doll on this…maybe we are both wrong. :)

The holy grail on the Tesla is if one of the big car companies buys them out or works out a deal to mass produce them for moderately less than what they cost now. Then you get more electric stations in populated areas and more conversion kits at home for charging.

There are a few people at work with electric or hybrid vehicles. We have charging ports around the parking lot and people bring their own cords to plug their vehicles into the charging ports. The only thing cooler would be solar panels to provide partial power.

There sure are a lot of shorts in tsla…

A few are hedged, maybe a few covered…but still…that is a lot of shorts…

The problem with that link is that the date is 4/15. The rise since then could be on the backs of shorts. I imagine that there are margin calls taking place too. I prefer the Yahoo Key Statistics page as it computes the short ratio for you - it’s at a whopping 10.9 days. Basically the play was to go long when the number came out - unfortunately it’s two weeks old now. I think that you can pay someone for up-to-date information but the price is something that only institutions would pay for.
