The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

I dont think that short number is updated every day. Could be wrong about that, but I don’t think so.

You are right, the number is old. I looked at volume and it is up the last 2 weeks so there could be some shorts covering.

Because it is so costly to short tsla, my guess is the short interest is still quite large. I called Schwab to see what they are charging to short tsla, because if it is less than about 2 percent a month there is free money out there. Getting an answer tomorrow. Since there is rarely free money, my guess is Schwab is charging more than 2 percent a month. The same with other brokerage firms. If there were trading firms that locked in deals to short earlier at better than 2 percent a month, they are sitting pretty.

I don’t like this…

Earnings will be overstated…

Pensions will be underfunded…

This development is a phony accounting gimmick…

Ok… the cost to borrow you know what is over 2 percent a month for me. I am just going to leave it at that…

so why would you borrow to short stock instead of buying puts?

I wouldn’t.

Doct, you were a bug buyer today at 8:31, right?

Sold aapl may10 405 puts and have an order to sell the may 18 390 puts.

I am getting a little too concentrated in my put sells…

I may have to do a little digging this weekend and come up with more ideas…

What company is bug?

Big buyer …

I can’t participate in the premarket. I bought 6/22 intc 18 calls today (ex-div date). It looks like my qcom 62.5 puts are going to expire worthless. I want to still buy some more aapl. I looked at goog the other day - should have bought but didn’t - there may still be a play on it even though its back to an all time high. I want to buy slv. I sold dxj and ewj the other day unfortunately. I wanted to buy them back today but then the yen weakened but I think it is still not at 100.

You can buy premarket at schwab…

I screwed up by not buying the aapl butterfly… Pretty good screw up…

here is an odd trade that trade analyzer in cboe came up with. I put in a target date of 1/18/14 and a target price of $600 for aapl. One of the trades it came up with was buy 625 5/18 485 contracts and sell 625 5/18 495 contracts

Ok… I am a little confused…it wants you to trade the spread 625 times…

And the expiration is in 2 weeks?

Was there a typo?

I keep looking for a good European stock or two. They are in recession now and once that turns stocks there should go up.

How about this trade with the same criteria as above: oct 600 - 620 - 640 - 660 iron condor. The cost is .59 and the breakeven price = 451.5. I don’t get it, does this mean I make money if it is less than 600?

Doct, Ok…there is a bug in your toy.

A few kinks have to be worked out in that analyzer…

Razorsharp, I think you are right…

You want to buy …before things turn…

Europe is giving up on austerity. They lowered rates too.

Well the cost is definitely .59 but I would have thought you would need to get aboe 600 for this to work

I bought the 6/22 spy 161 - 158 - 154 put spread.

India lowered rates.

To 7.25%.

I didn’t realize that their economy was running so hot.

Maybe I should look at Icici Bank.
