The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

BCEagle91, thanks. I may be buying early.

EMM1, performance is bad. Pay looks low considering money under management.

“Our checks suggest that traction in mobile is upcoming, as we believe the magnitude of design wins are expected to be surprising to investors. We feel that even ahead of a more compelling leading-edge 14nm line-up in 2014, Intel is today receiving a lot of interest from OEMs. There has been chatter from the handset ecosystem suggesting that the 2014 Intel platform may be their best yet. We find this is especially encouraging given that the expectation on Intel’s success in Ultramobile is very low. Even marginal upside from handset revenues would push the applied multiple higher, as it shows that Intel’s bet on x86 against ARM finally would make in-roads (albeit small initially with accelerated 2014 ramp). Recall that today Intel is shipping LTE basebands and is expected to ship LTE multi-mode voice and data baseband solutions by year-end. On the CPU-side, its 32nm dual-core Clover Trail+ is gaining increasing momentum on improving GPU performance. Its newer HSPA+ platform reference design around Clover Trail+ is a positive step forward for the company as the nextleg up will be LTE.”

Maybe I should join you. They still have to execute though.

I bought intc 6/22 18 calls on Friday. So far I’m only down a little - I’ll have to see how this turns out.

Yeah…the execution part is kind of important.

I am not rushing anything. It is not really a trade. This is the investment thread too. lol Just buying a little every day or two over for the next couple of weeks is my plan. Like I said I am going to hold some of this stock for years. This isn’t a pba or psec play for me either. I am not going to be that concentrated in intc. But… I like intc.

Doct, I don’t know what calls you bought, but I want the dividends. I looked at the leaps… But I decided against them.

I guess I could buy a call spread in the leaps. If you buy the jan14 23- 25 call spread for less than a buck… Let’s say a buck, you can make 100 percent in your money…at 25 at jan expiration. At 23 you lose 100 percent.

I said the 6/22 calls. The ex div date was Friday when I bought these purposely because it was ex div

I’ve shortened my calls timeframe. I don’t trust this market

Yeah… Intc is more of a trade for you then…right?

When I said I want the dividends, I meant for years.

Right now almost everything is a trade except my 401k

Yeah… I want to throw a little more money into longer term stuff. I am ignoring the market.
These puts may expire worthless which means I am hoing to need a plan b. lol

A clown…

Saw an article last night that Microsoft is admitting that they blew it with Windows 8. I put in an order for Intel this morning.

Ok cool …

$24.01. Should have picked them up yesterday afternoon.

I am not happy that intc is up today…

May do nothing today…

You want it down?

In 2005, they released benchmarks on Merom/Conroe early spring. Some results were leaked late the previous year. Stock price continued to drop into the late spring and summer. Then the chips came out - and people were stunned at the performance. AMD rose to something like $40 and then cratered when everyone realized that AMD processors were toast. I couldn’t believe that it took the market so long to realize that things had turned. I’m hoping we have the same situation here - though information gets out a lot faster today than it did in 2005. The main problem is that stock analysts aren’t fluent in electrical engineering and chip design.

Yes…

I am a buyer…

I don’t like to pay up…

Stock is going up so I guess I don’t have control. :)

I could see a pullback as it has gone up pretty fast. But I like the 50/200 cross. I might actually buy a Haswell desktop system this summer. I’ve been debating upgrading my current system or getting a new one. I was looking at getting a bigger monitor too which would require a better video card. My motherboard is six years old so it only supports bus interfaces that are six years old. I think that the interface gets upgraded every year so I’m quite a few generations out. Cards are supposed to support at least two generations prior. I would have to get something about three or four generations old and hope that it supports my interface and that it also has the newer display sockets (I think that I need DisplayPort). Sometimes it’s easier to just replace the whole thing but I don’t like to have to pay for a new copy of Windows. My upgrades would be video card, SSD and monitor. The CPU is fine and I can go up to 24 GB of RAM on the machine. I think that it currently has about 9 GB which is already overkill. The main benefit of a new machine would be lower power consumption.

[INTC - SharpCharts Workbench - StockCharts.com](INTC | SharpCharts | StockCharts.com)

I see the cross. I am not in love with the chart because the stock has gone up fast. I agree there can be a selloff. Although I think it is unlikely, I can see the stock at 22 if the stock market gets hit.

What I am doing is guaranteeing to a potential seller that I will pay 24 for intc at this expiration may 10.

So if the stock is below 24 at the close on Friday, I may be buying intc at 24. I got paid .20 for this so my real cost would be 23.80 if I have to buy the stock. If the stock closes above 24 on Friday, I make the .20 and the position expires. The most I can make before Friday is .20 so I don 't want the stock to take off on the upside.

I am lost with all the specs…

I rarely use my pc now. I guess that is not a ringing endorsement of intc.

Bought some TJX.

Similar to what I was thinking.

Australia did a surprise 0.25 cut last night (down to 2.75%) and Japan Nikkei is up 36% YTD (not sure what it is in dollar terms) as their export sector is doing really well. I think that the equity markets have a decent chance of remaining elevated as long as central bankers keep dripping liquidity out there on a regular basis.
