Oh well…

LULU down 11. Could this be a bull pose?

What is a “bull pose”?

Their CEO just quit: [Lululemon CEO to step down, shares sink - Yahoo! Finance](Lululemon CEO to step down, shares sink)

I’d do more research razor. It’s odd that the CEO will announce her stepping down without a clear replacement.

It’s a yoga pose. LULU sells yoga clothing. I was playing off the two concepts.

What is the CEO resigned for a reason that does not affect the business operations?

BCEagle91, yeah intc did not pop after the mac pro announcement.

I am not sure where you tried to sell the jul 26 calls. If intc is trading .20 higher, those calls would probably trade about .07 higher.

I was hoping aapl was going to talk a little about the iphone and ipad and maybe talk about upgrading to some intc chips. Lol

Generally, I am not too high on selling otm calls on stocks before earnings.
According to yahoo, intel’s earnings come out on jul 17th.

I thought that Intel was higher on the 70% longer battery life on Haswell over Ivy Bridge. That’s good news for AAPL unless Windows systems can do the same thing (I see no reason why Windows systems can’t do the same thing though it may require an OS patch). I thought Intel did quite well today compared to the overall market. If Haswell can get 70% better battery life with slightly better performance and much better graphics performance, can Bay Trail be far behind? And then what happens at 14 nm next year?

I was unhappy with call prices too but I just wanted to give it a try. It was only for a third of my shares and a little practice in options. Last time I sold calls was last summer. I was also worried about getting called out pretty early.

Apple is not going to talk about Intel chips. They have talked up doing the whole vertical product from soup to nuts. To go to Intel would be to admit that their chip teams aren’t competitive. Well, they aren’t at the time of Bay Trail and certainly when 14 nm comes out. We saw what happened with Google Maps. Google Maps has always been better than Apple Maps but Apple continues to try to improve their own product. There is no way that Apple Maps can be better than Google Maps because the quality of maps is determined by the number of people using it and Apple has already lost that battle.

Nothing wrong with putting an option order in and seeing what happens. Sometimes when there is news option prices go too far in one direction and you can get a good sale or a good buy.

I don’t think aapl is giving up on maps. Aapl is trying to integrate many of its programs and that includes maps.

Users of tech are going to be given so much information I wonder how this is going to affect
our thinking processes.

Google has had a huge lead in maps and they appear to be accelerating development. The main factor in quality of maps and, especially traffic information, is the number of people using your apps. Data from users and their locations and speeds are used to generate traffic data. So the more people you have using it, the better information you have. So if you’re first, you tend to stay first because everyone migrates to your platform and other platforms can’t gain traction. Google has that first-mover advantage right now and I don’t see them relinquishing it anytime soon. BTW, I use many Apple products but I use Google Maps for mapping.

Google is supposedly buying Waze for $1.3 billion. I never heard of the company and can’t believe it is worth that much money.

I have the Waze app on my iPhone for one year now but I have never used it. Apparently, it’s better than a GPS because the Waze app users input police car sightings to encourage you to drive at a safer speed.

Waze is crowdsourced geodata. It’s a pretty cool concept. Many speculate that Google bought it so that Facebook and Apple couldn’t. Another target would be Nokia Here. Nokia has good maps (that’s an understatement) but Google has the best traffic data.

Hey, what do you guys think about this? I have a Vanguard Inflation protected fund, that invests mostly in TIPS. It has done pretty well over the years, but lately has started to decline. I know this is for the long haul, but it seems that interest rates are only going up. Interest rates go up and even if there is inflation, I think these kind of funds decline.

I don’t want to react fearfully just for something in the short term, but this might be a no brainer to you. What do you think? Sell or hold?

A little more computer than I need…

I’d sell some.

[Why OS X Mavericks and the New MacBook Air Will Rock Your Mac World](ShipStation)

I’m thinking of maybe selling a lot, razor. Or all. We have a large amount of money in these, and even though they’ve done pretty good for a long time, it looks like a scary fall if interest rates go up. This is probably obvious to many people, but not so much to us.

If the ten year goes from 2 to 3% you are toast if you hold them.

You could sell some and hedge it by buying TBT and writing covered calls on the TBT. you would get revenue from the covered calls but of course the risk is that TBT could go down.
