“Drew retired four days after Dimon announced the CIO loss on May 10. For years, Dimon had sought to transform the unit and increase the size of its speculative bets, former employees have said. The firm hired Achilles Macris, 50, in 2006 to oversee trading in London and lead an expansion into corporate and mortgage-debt investments with a mandate to generate profits, three former employees have said. One London trader, Bruno Iksil, amassed positions so big he began driving price moves in the $10 trillion market for derivatives linked to the financial health of corporations, Bloomberg News reported on April 5.”

“After leaving Cantor, he joined JPMorgan’s chief investment office as a trader, according to two people. As the NYSE inquiry at Cantor progressed, he went on administrative leave at JPMorgan, one person said. His trading book was down around that time and his departure helped result in a loss of about $10 million to $15 million, the person said. The Wall Street Journal reported that loss yesterday on its website.”

I can remember Roger’s rant screaming about people should short fannie ma and freddie mac. I thought the same thing. After all how could Rogers be so negative about a company backed by the federal government? Turns out he was right and most of his other calls have been right. I read his book on commodities and on china. Rogers is one smart guy.

Canned tuna fish is an alternative. There’s also a lot of frozen fish from China that’s quite a bit less expensive than domestic fish - if you care to buy it.

A pound of peanuts at Trader Joes is under $3. We get almonds for $5/pound. Shelled pistachios are $10/pound. If you go for natural beef, it starts at $6/pound at Trader Joes and goes much, much higher.

Trader Joes Whole Wheat Bites are around $2/pound. Their Fiber Cereal is pretty inexpensive too. The sweetened stuff is more like $4/pound.

It’s hard to figure in taxes because they are dependent on income, consumption and the kind of house that you live in. The crime rate is a lot lower in Concord than it is in Boston too.

I’m pretty sure that Concord is a lot cheaper to live in compared to Boston but they are two completely different types of places to live. I’m sure that young adults would be pretty bored to live there unless they greatly preferred the great outdoors to what is available in big cities.

Concord is pretty cold in the winter, to the point that I really would not want to live there. I am only twenty miles south but the ten to fifteen degrees difference in the lows feels like a lot.

Nh is not the best place to retire if you want a big home. I think that you would be financially better off in a place that gets most of their revenues from income taxes.

Some reasons for retiring here are good access to health care and low crime rate.

Interesting the temperature difference. My cousin lives in Concord. He has a large home. I’m at the point in my life that I don’t want any home (I can’t stand wasting my time taking care of a yard) - perhaps a condo would suffice.

I moved to a townhouse. Great move for us. I do not want to take care of a yard. I do not want a big place. I can walk everywhere. Some day soon, I can see myself driving 3,000 miles a year.

I never thought I would live in a townhouse…but slowly…I started thinking…I enjoyed condos , hotel rooms, and townhouses when on vacation…

And…this is true…with the invention of the IPAD…I knew I did not need much stuff. :)

Wow…I am very happy I did not screw around and I got rid of FB.

NH is a nice place to live. Except for the weather. Unless you love to ski or ice fish. But the weather gets tougher on your body as you get older.

I think that heating is going to be less of a problem given our trend towards self-sufficiency in energy.

I can’t imagine why so many people want it outside of the madness of crowds that Newton participated in.

I never got fb - I guess I was lucky. I never really wanted ipo’s since just on casual observation, they seem to go down after the first day. Perhaps in the future, I’ll buy fb. I think I may buy some more spy puts today.
