The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

I don’t know why these brokerage firms can not behave in an ethical manner?

Well…I know why…it is the people that are atttracted to this game.

This deal could have been great…

But no…too many pigs and scam artists.

NSDQ wasn’t prepared…MS gives out selective information…the Facebook founders and fellow investors were greedy…the institutions thought they would be smart by asking for more shares than they wanted…oops…and the public…lemmings like usual.

They have to start putting people in prison. They have to start putting some important, untouchable people in prison, or this is never going to end. And by “this” I mean the complete dishonesty these guys exhibit from the seemingly innocuous “hidden fees” to the pathological lack of disclosure to retail traders on an IPO.

Honestly, the whole system is rotten.

Yep…

I don’t even hear about Corzine anymore.

Do you, poetgrl?

He got off.

Now there are only two clearing firms in chicago. It’s a nightmare.

But, Corzine? Took his profits all the way home.

http://articles.marketwatch.com/2012-03-27/commentary/31240799_1_jon-corzine-mitt-romney-money-moves

The whole thing is ridiculous beyond belief.

I was glad to see that the guy who published his resignation letter in the NYTimes is writing a book, though. Journalism is dead, but a good muckraker book can go a long way to educating people. I always forget how little people really know about this stuff. I was stunned so many people were willing to take the other side on a GS trade when they were increasing the shares they were selling.

We are still owed money.

A friend is still waiting for some of his money.

I guess hell is going to freeze over before we see the money.

I don’t know anything about that. Maybe you could put a lein on Corzine’s house?

I was talking to a friend that manages quite a bit… who should more than I know, and he sees his orders front run. Yet…he was kind of Supporting firms like GS.

But I am working on him. ;)

You are right. People just don’t know.

I am also looking forward to the book.

I was kind of hoping somebody like Andrew Sorkin, the guy on Squawk Box, would open people’s eyes, but he sold out

Only two clearing firms?

Which firms are you talking about?

JP Morgan and GS?

You are talking options?

ABN Amro doesn’t clear options? We use them…but not for options…

Now we are down to 2 clearing firms…

That is not good…

"I don’t know anything about that. Maybe you could put a lien on Corzine’s house?

Lol…I wonder how many lien’s Corzine has on his house?

Now this is a guy who knows what he’s talking about and is an expert in this area:[News Headlines](SEC Needs to Investigate Facebook Estimate Cut: Blodget)

:)…

Nice link…

Well, bought some aapl 505 6/16 calls after it dropped back from close to 575 down to the 562 level, figuring it would make another run to 575 which is resistance. Unfortunately, europe once again took over, and the market dropped. Listening to Cramer tonight, apparently technicians are keying in on the 575 level like I am, so it should be interesting if it trades up to that again.

@DocT: I was disappointed this morning when I heard Blodget say that FB was worth b/w $17-$24. My DH said last Sat we’ll only pull the trigger to buy FB when it goes down to $12. Now after Blodget said the floor is $17 we’ll never get into the fray maybe if it offers a 5% div.

Why are you so eager to buy the stock?

On the contrary, I’m indifferent to the stock right now. If I were eager to buy FB I would’ve bot it today at $31.03 and sold it quickly at $33. I just look at it like any other stock: there’s a floor and a top. If I feel it’s reached the floor then I buy. When it’s near the top then I sell. Well, most of the time. Some stocks I bot in 2009 I haven’t sold yet because the low entry price pays me a high yield that I don’t get in our cash accounts.

Henry Blodget? He who is banned from the securities industry…he who paid fines of nearly 4 million dollars for saying one thing publicly about a stock, and saying something completely different in private? I think this guy is not worth listening to…

Looks like a soft open, though FB is up 30 cents premarket. ;)

"Henry Blodget? He who is banned from the securities industry…he who paid fines of nearly 4 million dollars for saying one thing publicly about a stock, and saying something completely different in private? I think this guy is not worth listening to… "

He is exactly the right person to listen to on this topic - he’s done it.

Looking back, I see I got a bit too impulsive on Monday when I saw FB dropping 5 points. Nevertheless, I am in it for the long haul–it’s going into the spec stock category for my kids. I’m thinking (hoping, gambling, etc) Zuck has an amazing mind and will bring it forward.

I guess Dell’s earnings are not helping MSFT or INTC today…

Dell is down 2 bucks…

Europe isn’t helping either…
