The investment..speculation, out right gambling thread

Yup, I am 17.

and you started a business several years ago and have ~10k? - I’m impressed.

I’m impressed too.

So ivygolfer, you have to put up $1485 per futures contract?
And each point is $1,000…

For my broker (TD Ameritrade/ ThinkorSwim), I am required to put up $1600

Ivygolfer, ok.

Good luck on the trade.

Great charts…

We might be in this economic mess for a long time…

Savers are so …

I like all the charts. The Japan— US chart is interesting…how QE affects yields…really really long term charts…probably too long for most of us unless Kurzweil is correct…how the governemt debt relates to interest rates…most of what we read and hear is nonsense.

11,700 before 13,500

The comparison to Japan should not be surprising. ;)

Es futures down over 7 points…

Tomorrow should be wild…

Comparing stock markets…

To be accurate…the US stock market is outperforming…

I am out of my shorts. And, no, I am not referring to pants.

:)…

hopefully the market tanks tomorrow morning, time to sell some puts.

I honestly dont think the market will get crushed tomorrow, I think we should end up pretty flat.

The dead cat bounce should happen soon, late today,or early next week…way oversold according to the ‘experts’. ;)

Then i will sell the rip, and go join all my retail friends on the sidelines. ;)

Interesting how the futures are down even though all the potentially bad job news etc are well known.

Some of the premarket decline is based on China slowing down…Why would that surprise anyone? Imho, China has been fudging their financial data for quite awhile…

Employment numbers YIKES… Really crappy numbers…revised down for prior months…YIKES…

My prediction of 12,000 before 13,500 looks like a layup

QE3? Now the market will anticipate this, and market will rally…strong reasons to invest, lol

Numbers were awful - shouldn’t be surprising given the global economic condition and the lack of anything happening domestically. QE3 would be the only game in town right now but I’ve seen the Fed do nothing during the summer before - especially in reelection season.

I agree with your double-YIKES. Really, really awful numbers and now we’re at 8.2%. Does Bullard really believe that we’ll be in the sixes by the end of the year? Is there a place to put a bet on that?

Today will separate the “men from the boys”. Gold is up.
