Dan Dorfman passed this weekend. I used to listen to him all the time.

Hmmmm…

Futures are now up 3.25.

Japan up 1.8% early…13,000 before 12,000, then 12,000 before 13,500… Had to tweak because of froth about to happen over next few days

"Greece…no panic,no fear and no hope "

Exactly unless Germany relents on the bailout terms. It is still not that clear if Samaras can form a government which would again lead to new elections. Politics in Greece is not like here. It was invented by the Greeks and its a full contact sport. If a government is formed and the bailout isn’t renegotiated, there will be violent protests and the government will fall. The Greeks aren’t going to put up with the situation as it currently exists. So a short term market play may exist tomorrow but it won’t last all that long and qdogpa may be right about his prediction.

So has microsoft stolen a lot of apple’s thunder with its new ipad competitor?

No way to know without people playing around with it and reporting on it.

Not a chance, Microsoft has not reinvented the tablet, just put some different lipstick on it…it will join The Zune in it schallenge to Apple…

The Intel version can run legacy programs so it does have the advantage of a huge software library.

It has a USB port
and if it can run my Office and Google chats without any extra apps, I’m game for it. How much does the thing cost?

The ARM version sounds like it will be price competitive with the iPad. The Intel version will be price competitive with Ultrabooks. I am unfamiliar with what the interface will be like because devices that use Windows 8 aren’t out yet (touch devices that is).

It was odd seeing Ballmer introducing the machine. Comparing Ballmer to Jobs or Cook is no comparison.

IBD went from market in correction to market in upturn.

I got stopped out of nat gas. That was ugly. Long in most positions now.

I have the feeling that a lot is riding on the fed this week. I wouldn’t count too much on them doing anything.

This rally is insane. Ping-Pong between 12K and 13K?

I’m somewhat long the market (aapl, msft, dis, sbux, utx,vz,t) but I’m waiting until tomorrow afternoon. I’m hoping for a pullback to buy more. I wish I owned my company stock. Its close to an all time high. Instead, I was given stock options when it was 1/3 the current price and I’ve sold some puts.

I like aapl, msft, vz - don’t know about the others. VZ has made a number of changes in the last two weeks which should improve their bottom line. I received an email notice on a change in terms to force mediation/arbitration in case of disputes for wired services (which I dropped last month).

I’m thinking about selling some call options on my vz position but if it gets called away I’m going to have a huge tax hit.

The technical target on the two flags is $46. Perhaps you could write them at $47?

I sold CCs on INTC yesterday. I would like to sell them on AAPL too but I’m trying to figure out a strike price where I won’t get called out. I think that AAPL trades above $600 in the next month (up until OEX). Earnings are a bit after OEX so I’m leery of selling August calls.

I’m currently thinking $620-$630 but wanted to wait until after the Fed meeting.

I had sold aapl 620 7/21 calls. I own the 505 - 620 call spread and the 575 - 550 put spread

Ping pong is right, BCE. I think the DJIA gods are toying with Qdogpa.
