Troy, I think you need to give a little bit more information for people to help you out. You should check out the threads of other Chance threads to figure out what’s useful, such as your SAT I and II scores, your AP scores, which schools you want to apply to, etc.

Sorry, I wasn’t done and I clicked out

Hospital Volunteer Work: 500+ hours by the time I apply

Actual Work: I am working at my hospital right now, getting paid, I work in the ER and do some very important stuff. I probably will get good rec’s from the nurses and doctors. By June 22 I will have worked a full year, and then I will be laid off because of funding
I plan on writing about all my hospital experiences in my applications, I want to go Pre-Med, so this will be the main focus of most of my essays.

Choices:
Northwestern University- In state, so I might as well apply
University of Chicago- ^
Univ. of California Los Angeles
University of Michigan Ann Arbor
Univ. of Southern California
Univ. of California San Diego
New York University
U. of Illinois Urbana - Champaign

I know all of these are reaches except for probably Urbana, but I would still like some insight, constructive criticism please!!! :)

My Aunt went to University of Michigan Ann Arbor Business School and got her MBA. Does this count as legacy?

I plan on applying to my schools around September to increase my chances. I know Michigan and Chicago have rolling admissions so I am applying to them early, and which school should I use my ED on to have the best chance? Which schools does it not matter if applying early?
And if I send my 1st Quarter grades senior year, and I have all A+'s, with my application, will this help my chances?

I think Northwestern and the University of Chicago are both private schools so it won’t really matter to them that you’re instate.

Edit…

As you already know, most of these colleges are reaches for you. I think you should use your ed option either for NYu, or uchicago early action. They have lower standards in the ed or the early action round than the rd round. I recommend studyin for your sats, since with that low of a gpa it will be very hard for you to get in. The ucs and umich are based more wholy on test scores and gpa. I recommend studying over the summer and get a 32+. Then only can you have a slight chance.

Sorry, but I don’t think you have more than a 1% chance at any of those schools.

EDIT: except u of illinois.

I’d be shocked if he got into any of those.

lol, that’s what I thought

yeah dude…you should look to some more realistic schools. Chicago and NW with a 3.2? Who are you kidding. I do better then that (not terribly) and would be wasting money to send my app. there.

I already have my safeties, these are just my reaches, except for Urbana, hopefully…

And do you think I will have a chance at NYU if I choose ED???

Chicago doesn’t have rolling admissions.
Almost all those schools are reaches. Maybe an ACT prep course could help a bit but your GPA will really hurt you.

What about Urbana???

I already have my safeties, these are just my reaches, except for Urbana, hopefully…

And do you think I will have a chance at NYU if I choose ED???

Dude. I wouldnt get into NYU with my 3.4+ED+my parents donating a lot of money…

Choices:
Northwestern University- 0% Chance
University of Chicago- 0% chance
Univ. of California Los Angeles 0% chance
University of Michigan Ann Arbor 5% chance
Univ. of Southern California 5% Chance
Univ. of California San Diego 15% Chance
New York University 10% Chance
U. of Illinois Urbana - Champaign 40% chance

Dude, these aren’t really going to happen. UIUC MAYBE.

okay, now can I get some answers about rolling admissions, EA, and ED with my choices

You dont need to know jack with these schools. Stop living in some naive fantasy world. You arent getting into ANY of them, except for a SLIGHT (with ED) chance at UIUC. Rework your list.

I’m pretty sure I can get into UIUC RD. I know a good amount of people who actually go there. Their average ACT is a 26 and GPA average is 3.0 UW. Plus since their a state school, in-state is a plus. I’m not going to thank you for your opinion, because it was very rude.

UIUC is a good match. The rest you should rework. There’s no reason to dump money down a drain when you could instead be applying to other schools to give yourself real options.
