The Johnson Scholarship Program

Aw sorry guynameded about your bad interview. Funny thing was that my W&L (also by alum off campus) was one of my best! It wasn’t as much of a formal “who are you” interview as some of the others I had. We chatted for an hour and a half, but mostly she was sharing stories about the school, etc. However, although I had tried to arrange it a long time ago, the lady just got back to me more recently so it took place this weekend and therefore the actual interview had no way of affecting my Johnson status, which I guess I’ll find out today maybe! eek :)

Congrats everyone who made finalist an join the Facebook group!

I’ll see you guys on campus :D

And to those who didn’t make it, there’s still hope for regular decision and I wish you all the best :)

Talking about interviews and showing interest, I loved my interview at W&L. I had my interview the day ED apps were due, as I had applied a week before. The interview was more of a conversation, and it allowed the admissions offical to see me instead of my application.

my interview for w&l didnt go so well. we were in this coffee shop and i couldnt here a single word he said. so i kept nodding and saying “uhhuh” and “yeah” and such… im not a recruited athlete, but anyone want to play basketball/tennis/volleyball when we all get there? cant wait to see everyone.

yea my interview was good it was awesome until he asked me what my favorite disney character was lol
threw me a little offguard but i guess i recovered.

I was shocked to find out today that I am a finalist. I absolutely can’t wait to see everyone this March! Trust me, I was one of “those” who was absolutely convinced that I had no hope, so this news is just about as thrilling as it gets.

I personally think that my interview was crucial. I had a great alumni interview, and I think the fact that I offered to and did drive an hour and a half to interview impressed my alumni interviewers. I also think that topic choice/writing sample was super important. More than likely, the leadership topic was most used. I personally wrote to the challenge my generation will face prompt.

Anyways, can’t wait to see you guys! And best of luck to everyone :)

Wow, I am so excited to come for the interviews!!! I can’t believe I am going to!
Congrats, guys - and see you in March :)

I am … speechless. I did not expect to get that finalist notification letter at all. AT ALL.

Omg.omg.omg.omg.omg.omg.omg.
Congrats guys!

Congratulations to all those who received the good news. I was invited as a finalist, and I am truly surprised, as I did not have much faith in my essay. I absolutely can’t wait to meet everyone and to see the university. What I am wondering now is… how do they judge us going forward? Is it on our whole application or on how we perform during the week in March?

That’s a good question. I’ll see everyone in March, though!

ive been wondering the same thing jlandsoxfan…ne1 shed some light on this? im guessing if we made it this far then our other stuff was good nd its gonna be based on the interviews, which is kinda scary

no letter today (i’m in ca) how annoying!

Zack, am I understanding correctly that you aren’t a finalist for the Johnson but got another scholarship?

i think they use what they have from you, i.e. essays, ecs, grades, etc. in order to have a better understanding of you during the interview.

Congratulations to all the finalists! I just got my letter yesterday (i live in WA). Looking forward to meeting everyone in March!

Congratulations, everyone!!
Mine arrived today. I just can’t wait to meet everyone.
Good luck to you all!
I have one question, though
it wasn’t clear on the letter, but are all the finalist granted the admission to W&L?

Does the fact that I didn’t get a letter yet have anything to do with my status as a finalist because I’m really nervous right now?

congratulations finalists! - any parents tagging along?

I think finalists are pretty much accepted at this point; however, should you choose not to go, you’ll probably be rejected >_<

pja_928:
Hey, I just read the FAQs on that go.wlu… website named in the letter, and YES, as of now, everyone who is a Johnson finalist is accepted. They withhold the letter until after campus visit in March though to see how you personally behave. In other words, don’t be ■■■■■■■■ and break rules.

miracles&wishes:
I’m thinking that everyone gets a letter regarding their status in the competition because there are ppl on here who got rejection letters… your mail man must be a slow poke? lol
