The Lancet: "Ten Americas: a systematic analysis of life expectancy disparities in the USA"

Linked paper describes ten subsets of the US population, mostly in terms of race/ethnicity and region, and their widely varying life expectancies. Perhaps not so much in the headlines, but probably significantly influential, is that SES measures like income and educational attainment are highly correlated (Figure 4 near the end). However, in this respect, the second highest life expectancy group, Latinos outside of AZ, CO, NM, TX, has significantly lower SES measures than the first and third highest life expectancy groups.

I haven’t read anything of the study. So purely anecdotal I’ll say both sides of my family have very long longevity with no apparent correlation to income–and while not always at the top of “educational attainment” they were pretty smart and did well for themselves.
