The Legacy Factor and Leadership Positions

To all,

I am wondering about my chances at Cornell University College of Engineering Early Decision for the Class of 2015. My grandfather attended Cornell University for Economics and I was wondering how much the Legacy factor would help me in the running.

Next, I would like to ask about leadership positions. Someone on the other post said that Cornell loves leadership positions and I was wondering if the ones I have will be helpful.

Indoor Track: Varsity Captain (next year will be 4 years of the sport)
Outdoor Track: Varsity Captain (next year will be 4 years of the sport)
Math Team: Varsity (A) Team Captain (next year will be 4 years of the team)
Student Government: Treasurer (next year will be 4 years of the activity)
Created and led a development of a charity in the foreign country of Bangladesh as well as developing a fundrasier program for a mosque (left the program in charge of family when I left)

Any opinions on the legacy component and the leadership data? Thank you for you help.

bump…

bumpity bump bump

oh and now a real question… do you need some sort of authentication or whatever of the stuff that you do? For example, I did that charity thing in Bangladesh… will they trust me or will they be so suspicious that they need me to bring in some form or whatever.

bump… bumpity bump bump

nudge nudge? Seriously no one has any opinions?

Hi. There was a recent thread about how having legacy is like having +160 to your SAT score, but if you’re pulling sub 200 scores, i doubt legacy will help.

Leadership positions listed above are good. For a more detailed analysis of your chances, you might want to post in the “What are my Chances” board.

You do not need any certificates or whatever authenticating your extracurriculars. Just list them in your app and you’re done!
