I had my interview this afternoon with a local Brown alumnus. Usually I am rather reserved and not much of a conversationalist, but this completely changes when I have a college interview. We talked at a cafe, and I got to sharing unique aspects of my life like experiencing a war, doing research, etc. I made her laugh numerous times, and she felt very comfortable speaking with me. I lost all track of time, and suddenly I realized that it was dark outside (I arrived in the late afternoon). The interview lasted a little more than 3 hours. I do not mean for this post to be boastful, and I know that when one in ten gets in, you can’t pin down what decisions are based on, but I do want to hear some stories about super long interviews just for fun. So…share you interesting interview stories!

Mine was about 2 hours, and get this: we did the entire interview over instant messaging! It was supposed to be a Skype interview, but he is currently deployed in Iraq and the camera and mic on the computer he was using weren’t working. It also started at 9:30PM my time-- 5:30AM his time. Quite the interesting interview, but I was really happy with the whole experience-- although I sincerely doubt it will have any effect on my admissions decision.

whoazoe - that’s really, really cool!! My interview was pretty normal… he had been very involved in greek life, so we talked a lot about that because I plan on rushing. Also, he had been a recruited football player, and I’m a recruited rower, so we talked a lot about brown athletics and the recruiting process… lots of fun :)
