The Macaulay thread

I just realized that the only reason why Hunter took so long to contact me is because I was selected for SEEK. and now gotta send in more documents to verify. (not relating to city college)

Lilmelonred, that’s great that you finally heard back and does being selected for SEEK mean you’re accepted to Hunter? If so congratulations!

The way they mentioned it, i’m pretty much accepted if my financial documents verify it  Thanks! I thought I was going to get selected for SEEK at Baruch but I guess Hunter rather give me that which is even better because I want to go to Hunter more than Baruch. If I get in to SEEK, do you know if the summer program is mandatory?

I applied to City college’s engineering program… I don’t know how’s that going to work. Is it possible to be eligible for both the engineering program and SEEK at the same time?

Does this make any sense? Rejected from CCNY general admission with a 1380 SAT and 87 avg in a very prestigious school with many great extracurriculars.

1380 (critical and math)

Whoa that is a shock! It’s particularly weird because of the high stats of students who apply to Macaulay, Macaulay applicants are almost sure that they’d get in as regular freshmen.

I’m not an admission counselor at CCNY so I don’t know what was the reason behind them not accepting you this year, but you could always appeal the decision if you feel strongly about it.

Got it sorted it was a mistake :)

You applied regular right? Maybe they think that you might end up picking somewhere else and that since many people would need and be desperate to be at a cuny, it should reserved for people lower than your grades?

Hey guys, I’m an HS sophomore and I’m really interested in this honors college…I just want to know what kind of SAT/ACT scores I’d need to get accepted…I got a 193 on the PSAT this year…class rank: 18/~550, I go to an average-ranked public high school in Suffolk, my unweighted GPA is 3.84, weighted 3.98. As for ECs, Im in Environmetal, Gay-Straight Alliance, Drama, and Science Contest clubs, I volunteer at a nature museum, Im in the Audubon Society, Im in an organization called ERASE-Racsim. I’m an Irish-American male. I’d prefer to go to either CCNY or Queens. I’d major in a foreign language and/or teaching. So yeah, what SAT/ACT scores? Thank you!

I didn’t get an interview because my school sent in my recommendations late and the whole application only got sent last week. I’m very upset about it. I had to find this out on my own and then confront my guidance counselor. She said it was a mistake and ultimately sent it. I just got accepted into Baruch today, just a week after my whole application went through, but now I fear my chances for Macaulay are hurt. An interview would’ve been great especially since my gpa is only a 91 and my sat isn’t 1300+ :(

Two more weeks. The time is going by very slowly. More slowly for me than for S, I think. Good luck to everyone who has applied!

petlover - here is a summary of the Freshmen Fall 2012 profile that has Macaulay’s average GPAs and SATs by college. Lowest average 2-part SAT is 1279 at College of Staten Island. Several of the schools have an average of over 1400 (Baruch, Brooklyn, City, and Hunter).

KDavs, I hope things end up working out for you. I’m confused as to why the application itself didn’t get sent until last week. My son submitted his himself back in December, and I think he did it electronically. We did have a little trouble getting a couple of the other pieces in and recorded properly (and if I recall correctly, his GC had to resend his transcript because the first one never made it into his file), but because his app was in, that didn’t seem to cause any problems. Regardless of what happens with Macaulay, congrats on your quick acceptance to Baruch!

My sons 1st choice was Baruch but also applied to Hunter, John Jay and CCNY and 3.7/4.1 GPA ranks top 2% (6/399) 2200 SAT (1430 CR/M) but no interview. Does he still have shot at McCauleys with no interview?

^Yolie, if you read the earlier posts by current Macualay student, Dramamine, you’d would see where she said that there are students at MHC who were not interviewed. So I’d say not to worry, if your son received acceptances as a general freshman to the CUNYs he applied to then he is still in the running.

In any case, we have a week left until we hear from MHC, so all will be revealed next week Friday. But it would be nice if everyone in this MHC thread got in lol

1 more week!

Will we hear on Friday or will decisions only be mailed Friday?

As I take it, we will hear on Friday :)

CUNY Is extremely unorganized, if not dysfunctional, so I’m not surprised that other people had trouble loading transcripts, recommendations, etc. KDavs, I’m sorry- I hope all works out for the best. They are supposed to mail the decisions next Friday so we should get the letters by Wednesday or so the following week( I’m assuming, at latest.)

What about the Engineering program decisions for city college? They come out next week too?

Based on previous admission cycles, Hunter’s decisions go out first with an email telling you if you got in or not. Then you receive the orange folder in the mail, as early as the next day, depending on how close you are to the Macaulay Office.

Thanks Jazmine  I think I’ll be good. I got into all the CUNYs I applied to within a week. So the decisions will be sent by mail or email or both?
