The Macaulay thread

I know that at Hunter for sure they’ll send you an email at some point in the afternoon letting you know your decision, and then you’ll get the physical letter within a week or so, but I’m not sure if that’s the case with the other schools (it definitely could be though).

Also SORRY for kind of forgetting about this thread! Midterms plus other things have kept me super busy, but I can totally answer more questions if you guys have them.

Dramamine - does Macaulay cover transportation costs (within NYC) also? I think I remember reading somewhere that they did, but I’m not sure. If they do, how does it work?

Also, it looks as if maybe the special seminar series is the only requirement as far as gen ed is concerned. Is that correct?

Thanks for checking in on us, and I hope you did well on your midterms!

fosterte: thanks!!! Okay so first off Macaulay actually doesn’t cover transportation costs. Most people I know get the 30-day unlimited, which is a little more than $100.

Also, the seminars are the only classes required by Macaulay, but everyone still has to satisfy the GERs of their home CUNY campus too. Luckily the seminars cover a couple of those, but GERs are still pretty annoying to deal with.

Do you or any of your Macaulay friends work and go to school? If so how would you say you/they cope with it?

How are the facilities at the brookdale dorm: the shower, kitchen, gym, etc. Who’s in charge of general housekeeping, like cleaning the bathrooms?

PS. Is anyone going to that sciences at hunter thing this Thursday?

I registered for the sciences at hunter so I will Most likely be going

so only three more days! I hope we hear by e-mail. Does anyone know how good macaulay is for pre-meds? Does it have a high acceptance rate to med school?

Only three more days! Is Macaulay a first choice for any of you? I applied to macaulay baruch but it’s not really a first choice anymore for me.

Coolio I’ll be there too Jazmine. So at least there’ll be a familiar face…sorta hahaha.

Yup only three more days, and oddly enough I’m calm. Macaulay isn’t my first choice, but it would really be nice to have a great program like it to fall back on.

Insanemom, I remember coming across a list of graduate schools attended by the most recent class of Macaulay graduates. It was an exhaustive list that ranged from top schools like Harvard to schools like the CUNY graduate school. I don’t know if I can find it again but if I do I’ll link it here.

Hunter is very strong fro pre med or any health related sciences so I can imagine many graduates go onto med schools.

I’m in the same boat as ivyvision- Macaulay isn’t my first choice, but it’s an appealing option in the financial sense, so if I get in it will be a contender. I was already accepted to Macaulay Lehman but I’m waiting on Macaulay hunter, which was my first Macaulay choice

When did you find out you were accepted to lehman? And do you know anyone else who got accepted to macaulay this year?

Sent from my SPH-L710 using CC

How were you accepted? Results didn’t come out yet…

Heard back from Baruch and Hunter already but not yet from City for engineering. What gives? If I get rejected, I’ll cry…

I listed hunter as my first choice, but was offered Macaulay interviews by hunter and Lehman(my third choice.) I interviewed at Hunter first and then at Lehman, and the Lehman admissions officers and the director interviewed me and offered me admission to Macaulay at Lehman since according to Macaulay rules students can only receive one Macaulay decision from their first choice, but they are sending me a letter of acceptance to Macaulay Lehman, but they are only allowed to do so after I receive notification from Hunter. I’m sorry I didn’t mean to insinuate that the decisions had been released

May I ask what your stats are? Lol. And congratulations!

I’m on my phone so I can’t see the posts where I put all of my stats but feel free to check  and thanks! Good luck to everyone. I hope all Macaulay decisions come out on Friday, and not on obscure dates like the general cuny decisions did

They have failed with email students on the 15th, well Hunter at least, but when you receive your packages may differ.

Ivyvision- what do you mean?

Whoops, sorry typo. Blame it on late night texting lol. I meant to say they haven’t failed with emailing students on the 15th but when you get your package (if you get in) will differ. Based on previous years, persons complained about not receiving their package weeks after the 15th.

ivyvision, to answer your questions from a few days ago: most of my freshman friends here don’t actually work, but lots of upperclassmen do, and they seem totally able to handle it, as long as they work reasonable hours. And to make sure that happens, a lot of people work jobs in which they have relative control over the amount of hours they work, such as tutoring, babysitting, etc. But there are still a fair number of kids who work at Trader Joes and Chipotle and yeah.

Also the facilities here are pretty clean, every morning a few cleaning ladies go to every floor and make things nice and not gross. I’ve never had any complaints regarding the cleanliness of the bathrooms or showers or anything.

Also I think you guys get your decisions tomorrow??? so GOOD LUCK and if you guys still have questions after getting accepted or whatever I’ll still be checking up on this thread so yeah!!
