I was told that all colleges in the Macaulay Honors Program will notify applicants via snail mail. The only exception is that Hunter is supposed to notify Hunter Macaulay applicants by email, in addition to regular mail.

However, as it turned out, Hunter’s computer system crashed and will not notify applicants via email until sometime today or tomorrow (according to Hunter College staff I spoke to).

By the way, some people should be receiving letters today? Notifications were sent out to applicants 3/15/10 via snail mail. So depending on how close you live to Macaulay, may even be today for your notification.

Good to see you post. Can you share your experiences at Macaulay, esp Hunter, for the students who have or will be getting notification of admission?

Do you get the sense that you are nurtured and challenged in your areas of interest and strength? What are the strengths and weaknesses of the program, from your perspective.

Also, any special insights and advice on the program for new admits to Macaulay?

Right… Just called MHC at Hunter. As of now, their server is still down… The majority of decisions still haven’t been sent.

I also asked if they emailed the admitted applicants first, and if those who haven’t yet received word were rejected (as many people at school have speculated) but they insisted that that has nothing to do with it.

Just got the “snail” mail. Daughter was accepted to Macaulay Queens. I am thrilled!
Amoney3 - thanks for attempting to get more insights about the program. That would be helpful to us as well. Anything we can learn about Macaulay overall as well as Queens, Music Department, Science Department, how challenging is the program, intern opportunities, social life - from a real live student would be great.

Bur…,
I hope you got some sleep last night! Also, I wish you well and good news ahead (maybe later today or in next day or so)!

Sonny got into NYU but the cost there is astronomical (even with his merit scholarship)! I’m hoping he will still consider Macaulay, if he should get in!

Congrats to you and your daughter! Great news! I don’t know about the kids, but this is a parent’s dream come true! Quality education without the cost!

You must be jumping for joy! My sonny is still declaring that he wants to attend NYU (no matter the results from Macaulay)! :(

When you got your general acceptance, they should have sent you an email with a username and pin number. Use this to log into “current student”. Your scholarship details should be there.

^ Wow… where do you live? I’m from Long Island and literally had the same stats. Didn’t submit SAT but 33 on the ACT and maybe like a 93 point something UW GPA. I think I nailed the essays too. The only thing that might have put me above was that I sent in a package of supplements (a few articles and cartoons I wrote/ drew for the school paper, copy of school’s literary mag I contributed to/ edited, and a CD with 3 songs I composed, 3 graphics I designed, 3 photos I took, and a short film I won some contest with). I guess this could be a lesson for next year’s applicants, supplements help.

Seriously though, good luck, I really hope you end up getting in, and I’m sure you will.

And Chevon, thanks for all your help haha, I’m sure we’ll meet eachother at one point. My name’s Desmond btw.

Does anyone have a problem where the email says you were accepted to Macaulay at Hunter, but when you view your acceptance letter online it says you have been rejected? I’m very confused and upset by this…
