Driving is awesome, it feels so good to be able to get places without relying on other people.

I wasn’t upset on d-day: I have some great options, and am definitely leaning towards Williams (though i STILL dont have their FA package)!

prophet: I’d say go with Georgetown. Haverford’s nice and all, but it’s not the best LAC (like certain other schools I want to attend ;)) and Georgetown is rock-solid. And plus, Haverford’s obsession with their honor code was off-putting, I decided not to apply because of this overly scrupulous mentality of theirs.

driving is epic. i feel so epic at times when i’m cruising through the streets. lmao.

chandler – thanks for the thoughts. i know dude! that honor code thing is like so heavily focused i have this odd feeling about it. georgetown is in d.c. and it’d just be so baller. i don’t know. we’ll see.

on a seperate note, i’m thinking about taking my sat iis again so that (if) i ever feel like applying to yale as a transfer i won’t have a bad AI. but i have a feeling i’ll like wherever i end up going, but still – yale has blue and white bulldogs and nice coffee shops. lol.

I def agree, driving is the single greatest aspect of my life that screams INDEPENDENCE!!! more than anything. ;)

@prophet: Yeah Gtown is pretty baller, it’s right next to a major city so the nightlife and shopping/eating there is amazing. Internship opportunities are unparalleled, esp. if you’re interested in politics/law, but if you’re into science and biochemistry there is always NIH and NIST pretty close by. The only qualm I had when I stayed at Gtown for a week for a program was that their mattresses were crappy and their food in the dining hall gets a little repetitive after a while.

^ Lol, I like how you all are so hyped (HYPed, ehh? Ehhh? Get it? screw’em) up about driving…

I’ve driven (with an instructor) ONCE…(but she said I was preternaturally good, so that’s cool).
I think I might just not get a license…if I get in off the waitlist tears up, I won’t need a car, and if I don’t get in off the waitlist (and go to NYC for school), I DEFINITELY won’t need a car.

@prateek: Oh, come on dude, I’m not one of those…

Yeah driving!!!
It’s actually not that exciting anymore, but still, it’s cool.
I only get to drive on Thursdays… my ortho appts are always on Thursdays and I have music every Thursday night. So, I pretty much don’t drive for a week and then get BOMBARDED by it on Thursdays.

Oh man, No2EULA… at least I’ll see you at Cornell on the 17th.

Haha wowwww. Reading about this driving stuff has made culture differences evident! I’m from Oklahoma… everyone (and I mean EVERYONE) in my town gets their permit at 15 and a half, and their license at 16 (and most even have a motorcycle licence before that). If you want to go anywhere around here, you drive. Mostly because public transportation is non-existent. So I’ve been driving since a young age… and drive literally everyday… it’s pretty tedious really, I wish we had public transit… lol.

And hmm. So what all accepted student’s days are everyone going to?

Just Cornell and Williams, my two top choices!
I decided it’s too much of a hassle to go all the way out to Tufts when I’m not actually considering going there.

15 and a half, 16??? DUDE, that’s insane! Where I live, you can’t get anywhere without a car either, but we still have to wait a lot longer than that to be able to drive!
No wonder Oklahoma’s called the Sooner State. (Geography nerd, I am.)

Haha, just out of curiosity, what are the ages there for permits and licences? Oh and I didn’t actually say this… but here you’re also able to get your motorcycle license at 14 and a half (provided its a 250cc engine or below). But motorcycles are screaming metal death traps… not that I don’t love mine. But it’s true, they are. Haha.

And man I commend you for your Geography knowledge… I can barely remember my own state’s stuff (I remember our state “flower”–mistletoe-- mostly because I find it hilarious OK’s state flower is actually a parasitic plant…)

@No2EULA: But look at that state toy! The slinky! I don’t even think OK has a state toy… if so it is probably like the stick(which was actually recently admitted into the toy hall of fame, lol).

You guys are pretty funny.
This thread should not die!!
I will bump it till forever!
I thought certain places allowed people to have Driv Lc because they worked.
Like working the tractor, driving a truck and helping out…
Just something I heard, no offence if it is not true

Haha OK and Kansas both have those “farm/work permits” for work, available at age 14. You can get your regular, full license at age 16 however. No strings attached. :)

I still haven’t heard your licensing ages though!

I live in Maryland, and the age when you can get a permit is 15 and 9 months. Earliest age you can get a license is 16 and 3 months, because 6 months need to elapse after you get your permit. I got mine around 16 and 6 months.
…of course, it’s just a provisional license, which means I have a state curfew. People under 18 with a provisional driving license can’t drive after midnight. -___- and we can’t drive other teens (unless they’re direct family) until 5 months after getting a license.

Haha so here in OK we just had a “fun” tornado pass through my town… so what did I do as the loud “air raid/tornado” seirns blared? Well as a true oklahoman, I walked out into my front yard and looked into the sky, and caught a picture of the thing on my phone as it passed overhead. I love ok sometimes… haha
