^ I SparkNoted it tonight. I don’t feel so bad though, because I read it on my own spare time last semester.

I agree with goldenratiophi. Iago should be President.

Ehh I dislike Shakespeare, we’re reading Hamlet now and I don’t want to put effort into understanding/reading it… senioritis is all-consuming.

I liked Othello, actually. I’m usually a sucker for minor characters who actually are semi-important, so I liked Emilia haha.

I should go to sleep… I did my Lit homework (I’m SO proud of myself) and am ignoring the rest, so I might as well catch some Z’s.
I’m expecting a solid ten pages from you guys tomorrow, don’t let a brothah down!

D: goldenratiophi, but that would NOT make any sense! hahaha

So Claudius marries Hamlet’s dad/his own brother.
Hamlet contemplates about marrying himself. (To marry or not to marry???)
Hamlet marries Polonius.
Hamlet marries Rosencrantz and Guildenstern (indirectly)
Ophelia marries herself. (am trying to not think about this).
Claudius marries Gertrude (indirectly).
Hamlet marries Laertes. (I sense bigamy here!)
Hamlet marries Claudius. (uh oh…)

etc.

I like Shakespeare. It takes a while to get used to the language, but eventually it can be read somewhat fluently.

James Joyce is still the best author ever.

Ok I’m going to bed now too. For real this time.

@limetime: that sounds like it could be exceedingly funny!

^ You guys should’ve heard my readings for that…

When I was Iago, I did my Stewie Griffin (DEAD ON)

When I was Othello, I did Morgan Freeman (similarly dead on…not AS much)

When I was anyone else, I did the dry British accent you hear all throughout the Monty Python movies.

OMGEEEEEeeeeeee

this is how the thread moves from topic to topic
the transition…

i should go to sleep, too. i lost major zzz’s yesterday…

So I’m really confused - I’ve heard 5, 6, and 7 are when the decisions will be released. The website only says “evening” - can anyone confirm the time (in Eastern Time) they’ll be posted?

Okay, I’m going to sleep for real now.

potentiality: You absolutely can say that! I hope you’re one of the 2014-ers that keeps this thing alive!

It’s 5:00. This came from somewhere official, but I can’t remember where exactly.

Depending on how badly the server crashes… gear yourself toward 9:00 :P

^ Ahaha, I think I’m going to check morning of the first.

if everyone says they will check at around 8 or 9pm, then there is just HELLL!!

i am off to sleep

Before I stumble off to an episode of Seinfeld in bed, I’d just like to say this:

Whatever happens tomorrow, I’m happy to have met you guys/girls and to have been a part of this thread. Y’all are truly some very cool, very supportive people and I’ll be thrilled to cheer everyone on tomorrow, whether I get in or not. Those of us who get in have earned it, and those of us who don’t sure as hell still deserve to.

Here’s to us. Lechaim, salute and cheers.

I think we should all do a toast to what was and what will be. Cheers.

hmm, a little ways back I sensed some Shakespeare hostility… I will not, I repeat, I will not endure this, unless you can say that you read ‘A midsummer Night’s Dream’ and can honestly say you disliked it - its so beautiful, and if you dislike it, I will break off all contact :)

^Twelfth Night was definitely my favourite. Who doesn’t love a bit of wholesome cross-dressing goodness? ;)

^ I was Malvolio last Spring ![]()
Awesome character. The yellow stockings scene was my favorite. Got minutes of full-on laughter every performance, lol.

I have to say, though, as someone who has literally read every known manuscript of William Shakespeare (bought the Oxford Complete Works at a garage sale for $10 ;)), I cannot pick a favorite. Hamlet’s great, of course. Macbeth is so dark. His lighter works like the Comedy of Errors, Much Ado About Nothing, the Taming of the Shrew…not to mention his numerous sonnets and a couple of lengthier poems…

I mean, my god, the man was simply incomparable.

Would it be cliche to say my favorite is Romeo and Juliet?

Yes. Yes, it would.

Yes, it would ;-)

And yes hookem, he was incomparable - did you know that he had an active vocabulary of over 28000 words, which is about 4 times the vocab of an average citizen? :)
