^ Yep, I’ve told some people and reactions have been either “…where/what’s that?” or “OH MY GOD PURPLE COWS!!!” The latter realize the greatness of Williams.

lol I like how this is the Yale thread.

lol I like how this is the Yale thread.

the Yale thread

LOL guys.
Haha most of the time I tell people that I got into Williams (and am very jubilant about it), they usually give me a pitiful look that says “Oh, so she wasn’t smart enough to apply to one of the ivies…” lol so whut. I’m into Williams! :D

Oh, you know, this Yale thread veers widely off course many times…

this is the longest thread i have ever seen, though i am relatively inexperienced around here

That’s the best part of it! It’s a countdown thread that has nothing to do with countdowns.

Other than the Ivys, my school doesn’t know anything other than the local state colleges (ie: U of M, Mich. State, Central Mich, Grand Valley, etc.) So if you told them you went to williams, you’d get “whut, where’s that?! Is it any good?”

Thanks guys! Yeah some people today were like “… uh, William and Mary?” or like “WOW CONGRATULATIONS!”

If I get into Harvard, I would most likely still choose Williams (though if Williams doesn’t give me good aid… that may be a problem).
Yale vs. Williams will be a tough one to decide, I love both schools just about equally.
However, the likelihood of HY acceptance is so small that Williams is probably where I’ll end up going! (WHICH IM PUMPED FOR!!!)
Come on, Purple Cows are just… too epic for words.

The tutorials sound amazing, you get such close interaction with professors and that’s extremely important when it comes time for profs to write recs for medical school (which I’m applying to). Williams is supposed to have amazing med school acceptance rates, and their sciences are very strong. I think their foreign languages are good, too, though I’m not sure (language geek here).
The atmosphere at Williams is just… perfect. I mean, the quality of the education combined with the closeness and beauty of the community is just irresistible.
What is the Williams-Exeter program and the program with Oxford?
I’m leaning heavily towards Williams, but if Yale accepts me I’ll have a tough choice.

Go Ephs/Purple Cows!

Yale thread, schmale thread. This thread has surpassed being simply a Yale thread and has become an all-purpose awesomeness thread.

we should all meet guys
Yale or no Yale, this 2013 has been strong
bulldog days or something
or not

^lol, Party at my house!

^ Nah man, party at Williams Previews!!!
So pumped for that… you don’t even know.
Or we could have a party just outside of Yale, in the box IndiaRubber and I will own in the future?

I just noticed that this thread has waves of people talking on it… when I get home there are like 6-8 pages of prateek, Izzy, Silence, etc talking and during the evening/night hours it’s me, limetime, goldenratiophi, and Icestorm talking.
IndiaRubber drops in at random times (way to be unpredictable :O) and No2EULA is ubiquitous.
lmao I can’t believe i just wrote that!

Oh God…

Counselor: Where are you applying?
Me: Oh, blah blah blah… Williams blah blah blah…
Counselor: Oh, like William and Mary?
Me: No.

…later in application season…

Counselor: Ok, where do I need to send transcripts?
Me: …Williams etc…
Counselor: William & Mary?
Me: No, Williams in Williamstown, MA.
Counselor: Ah, okay.

…later…

Counselor: Ok, sent!
Me: Thanks!

…later, a thought occurs to me and I go back to his office…

Me: So just where did you send the transcripts again?
Counselor: takes out a list Blah blah blah… WILLIAM AND MARY… blah blah blah
Me: facepalm

nah nah, that should have been napalm in his face

Okay, so who’s ready to fail an Othello essay test tomorrow? I AM!!!

Othello in short: Desdemona is a whore and everybody dies because of it.

sounds like this century we live in

that’s why shakespeare is taught. He transcends time and helps us ponder what the real purpose of our lives is.

Do not forget that Iago is a badass mastermind.

Ah yes, Iago, the greatest Shakespearean hero. A role model.

Hm, this thread is a bit hilarious.

^^ LOL at goldenratiophi.

Most Shakespearean plays can be summarized in one sentence:

King Lear: Old King goes crazy, realizes only the third daughter loves him, dies in misery when third daughter’s killed.
Macbeth: Guy fooled into thinking he can be king instead of the other guy, but epically fails after being crowned king and dies miserably.
Hamlet: Young guy gets angsty over mom marrying this other guy, suspects the other guy of killing his dad, tries to take revenge on the other guy and eventually dies miserably.

Yup, sounds about right.

Now I’m just waiting for the stones to fall from the Shakespeare devotees…
(I actually liked Macbeth and Hamlet though.
)

I’ve had this theory… take any Shakespearean tragedy, replace all instances/occurences of murder with marriage, and voila! it’s a Shakespearean comedy!

funny, i’m currently doing othello, too. i’m only on act II when technically i’m supposed to have finished last week. hahahaha…teacher needn’t know…
