As they say, to each his own, I wasn’t criticizing people who find relaxation from watching news, just saying that is last thing I personally would relax with (much the same way there are people that love golf, will play it, watch it on tv, bores the stuffing out of me shrug)What generally irritates me about tv news isn’t the news itself (which is bad enough), but rather what news has degenerated into, other than maybe BBC world news or the News hour on PBS, most of it is just a bunch of people with blow dried teeth (to quote Linda Ellerbee) mouthing drivel that someone wrote specifically to enflame people or scare the crap out of them…
I always assumed man caves were tolerated as a way to keep atrocious interior design choices concentrated in a single area.
^^^ that made me chuckle ! I still am stuck with one last piece of hideous furniture from my husband before we met. It’s been twenty years and I am still thinking of ways to get it out of the house

But since we were both established when we married, it was more difficult to weed out the undesirables.
