The Man Cave

Movies that pretend to be Guy Movies, but really aren’t:

Grapes of Wrath (“boo hoo, I’m poor” – the Duke would have shot his way into California)
Top Gun (I appreciate the manliness of Ice Man, Goose, and Slider, but Maverick – I just don’t know)

We had a thread like this before. It ended up with more chicks in it than guys.

;)

p2n – I know. Hope springs eternal.

Remembered the quote, just couldn’t remember who to attribute it to. If I could walk into a bar, have everyone yell “Bullet”, and have my beer waiting for me at my usual seat at the bar that always seemed reserved just for me, life would be good.

Great list of books and movies by the way. I considered including Spartucus in your movie list, but the bath scene totally takes it out of manly consideration.

Other movies for your consideration:
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Blazing Saddles
The Deer Hunter (just for the Russian Roulette scene)
The Alamo (THE DUKE’s version, of course)
The Green Berets (Theme song must be known by heart in the Man Cave)
Star`Wars (only the first two)
Planet of the Apes (Moses’ version, not the remake)
The Godfather I and II (you broke my heart, Fredo)

Feel free to add more. But in the Man Cave, we expect you to be able to give at least 3 quotes from each of the movies!

Anyone tried a Charles Bronson? Why the birch beer?

Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns, Dirty Harry series, Outlaw Josey Wales, Rambo I & II, Heat, Blackhawk Down. De Niro movies, i.e, Goodfellows, A Bronx Tale, Taxi Driver, Casino, and the other aforementioned De Niro masterpieces.

Quotes too numerous to quote.

Fighting soldiers from the sky,
Fearless men who jump and die…

I’ve known it since I was 5 yrs old.

Had a big bro in 'nam.

cheers all.
<request permission=“” to=“” come=“” aboard=“”>
(Does it help if I say that I’m sitting under the head of a ten pt buck?)
I’ll contribute a gator head, shark jaw, 8’ python skin, a bunch of skinned foxes and a rhino horn to the trophy case.</request>

Is anyone else hearing the song “I’m going to hire a wino to decorate our home?”

Sorry, I know I’m not worthy to be here, but I reckon I can post just this once since I do know all the words to the Theme from The Green Beret.

I’ll try not to mess y’all up, as this is a great thread. (Dang, sorry to show too much sensitivity…)

You guys can all buy this and have a uniform…

[*MAN CAVE](http://store.beasyouare.com/servlet/Detail?no=305)

Hopefully there are lots of big screen TV’s turned to sporting events around the man cave.

One of my favorite bumper stickers ever: WWJWD (What Would John Wayne Do)

What kinda cave is this, without a single post on the EURO Cup?

My man cave is really in the garage. Cars have been my passion since I can remember. Right now I have 6, 4 of which are vintage sports cars. When I married again a few years ago one condition was–I will never sell my cars unless I want to. My wife has been pretty good about following that rule although I should have had another rule that I could buy another car without having to sell one. She now uses that one against me anytime I mention a possible new addition and brings me to my senses.

I do have a “stereo” room but don’t find myself there very much. Stereo/audiophile seems to be a dying hobby.

Barkeep, another round of whiskey for all my friends.

Gentlemen, to THE DUKE.

Tuition Dad, of course there are several dozen TVs throughout the Man Cave, with sports playing continously (as well as quite a few of the movies mentioned before).

Barrons, 4 sports cars? Nicely done. Of course, one of the greatest moments in any man’s life is the day his son (or daughter) learns how to change their own oil and adjust the engine timing, LIKE A MAN DOES! Made me so proud, he bragged to his pre-school teacher about it the next day.

padad, Soccer? I mean, soccer? I even heard the Rooskies are still in contention. OK, we’ll watch those guys over there kick a ball around, but only because the NBA, NFL, and NHL seasons aren’t in session, and there is only 14 or so MLB games a day. We’ll just have to cover the eyes of THE DUKE’s picture, or put it on a TV that he can’t see from behind the bar.
But if one of those sissies dives to the ground after some other guy barely toucheshim and rolls around like someone broke his clavicle , the channel immediately gets changed!

Oh, a CC chapter of NO MA’AM
(National Organization of Men Against Amazonian Masterhood

Couldn’t sleep at mom’s house, in my old bedroom. Staying with her, she’s 92. W is keeping her parents at Home, 88 & 87.

Anyway, Speaking of soccer, I was surfing the satellite and caught some football. As I was watching, there were some plays that were a “thing of beauty.” Something that will never, ever, happen again in the exact same way.

^^^
Keats and soccer/football, now that is indeed “a joy for ever”

Talking about Keats and soccer in back to back posts in the Man Cave…

I could swear that I just saw our picture of THE DUKE just roll his eyes…

Add to the lists:
Movie:Big Lebowski
Author: Elmore Leonard
Condiment: Beano

Broads Who’ve Earned a 1-Hour Pass to the Cave:
Linda Hamilton in Terminator II
The character of “Chiquita” in “The Professionals”
Sophia Loren in “Boy on a Dolphin”
Denise Milani
That’s all I can think of.
