Happy Birthday! Hope you’re having a good one!

Okay, I need your help again! This is the jumpsuit that I bought to wear to a wedding this month in Alabama but I’m going to freeze, as temps are expected to be in the high 30s/low 40s. I’m a Florida girl so I don’t have warm coats, especially not dressy ones. And to make matters worse, the jumpsuit has a chiffon cape over the shoulders, which could make anything with sleeves a problem. I’ll be indoors most of the time but just getting from the hotel to the car to the church to the reception will be COLD!

I have no clue what to wear over the jumpsuit. I wish I hadn’t donated my mother’s heavy wool coat after she passed away. I never imagined needing it! Thanks for any help :slightly_smiling_face:.

How about a poncho? You can get an expensive one on Amazon or try a second hand shop.

Here’s one example that can be worn different ways - can’t tell for sure if your jumpsuit is navy or black

If you wear a coat, probably you could flip the cape to your back to get arms in the sleeves. Whatever you get, a pair of gloves will bean extra help.

Good luck. It does look nice on you.

I would look at a heavier weight pashmina as it would be simple to wrap around you even with the cape. Since you are going to be inside you only need something to get from the car to the venue.

It’s navy. I do like the one in your second link but I don’t know if even that will be warm enough. And the reviews indicate that what you see is not what you get .

77% 5 star reviews out of over 4000 - that’s a pretty good record!!! Was looking for a quick, inexpensive solution for you.

I have been looking at similar pashminas but they seem to mostly be lightweight. Heavier ones are harder to find but I’m still looking. What color would you recommend?

@abasket, I don’t trust extremely positive Amazon reviews anymore. I tend to look at the 1-3 star ones to get more honest appraisals. The poor reviews say that the size and shape is not what they expected.

I think you could do the burgundy or charcoal with the navy.

Oh, I think it will just going from a car to indoors. 40-something degrees is not unbearably cold.

Agree! I’d dart from the car into the building without any pashmina, but to a Floridian not acclimatized to low temps it might be very cold.

RealReal has tons of designer pashminas and ponchos at good discounts, and some
can be sold back to the company for a portion of the price paid.

I had a similar outfit for an affair that was rainy and cold. I wish I had my black, long sleeve gym top with me. I would have work that underneath the top. It would have been better than my coat.

At a local wedding, I kept the cape on the whole time.

I’ve been known to wear wool tank tops under dressier garments to look stylish while staying warm. The good thing is the tank top doesn’t show and doesn’t affect the outfit.

You can try on several different styles and find one that’s invisible. Other folks swear by silk, but I stick with wool. Many wool garments are also washable—gentle in machine or hand wash.

You could also have thermal bottoms — silk, wool or a synthetic. Lots of options. Inside if it’s too warm, you can take of any layers in ladies’ room.

I personally can’t tolerate any kind of wool at all. But a silk cami would give you added warmth on the top. It really would!

The poncho idea is a good one. But so is a regular pashmini. You aren’t going to be sitting outside…right?

Silk can also add a layer and be insulating for folks intolerant of wool.
