If it were me, I would probably get a cashmere wrap, perhaps in light grey, which I think would look nice with the navy blue. It should be warm enough for short amounts of time in the cold. Right now, this one is 40% off at Garnet Hill:
My S had a New Yearâs Eve wedding, and I wasnât going to be outside much (mainly car to venue) and I had a faux fur cape that kept me warm. Would something like this work?
Perhaps nice shawl or cape to walk into the venueâŠ. and an ugly coat in the car. Coldish weather can bite, especially if you are not used to it and/if wearing sandals.
Thanks, ladies. I ended up ordering a light gray cashmere wrap from Macyâs. Just hoping that shipping isnât delayed!
I think I need a wardrobe consultant .
Speaking of weddings and shoes⊠there are some good choices listed here for both guests and wedding parties:

So pretty!!
I have a cashmere wrap that I wear constantly.
I think thatâs perfect!
The silver Life Stride sandals I got online and linked above were just perfect. Comfortable from 3:30 when I put them on until nearly midnight when I was ready for bed. Haha!
These are cheap and so maybe CHEAP, but I think for a bride these could be fun!!!

There are many good shoe choices on the link @BunsenBurner provided. I still need to get shoes for myself for D1âs wedding in May.
D1 is wearing cowboy boots under her wedding dress. She just had her first fitting last week and they look amazing with her dress and go so well with her outdoor venue. She is also getting custom Converse shoes for dancing at the wedding.
These look like Amina Muaddis!
Iâm looking for a fine Indian shawl to wear with this dress â can anyone recommend a good source for purchase?
If itâs of any help, Amazon.com has a few on their website. https://www.amazon.com/indian-shawl/s?k=indian+shawl
You like nice in that dress.
Pretty dress
I wore Converse high tops to my friendâs daughterâs wedding last fall as I was recovering from a broken ankle. At least half the people in heels came over to tell me they wished the had done so as well.
We go to a fancy black tie fundraiser every year and I always bring foldable ballet flats for dancing. Tieks if Iâm feeling spendy, but there are plenty of less expensive options available.
That dress looks lovely. So nice that it is a neutral color that will work well with almost any shawl. Have fun finding one that speaks to you.
Lucky you - my feet & back would KILL me if I spent any time in those foldable ballet shoes.
I recently bought some silicone foot spray off of Amazon to use with a pair of dress sandals that squeeze my feet (I only wear them with one dress that I have, and I am too cheap to find comfortable ones). The spray puts a thin silicone coating on your foot and protects from rubbing & blisters (you can spray where you need it). I was surprised but it actually worked very well. I wished I had known about it for my daughterâs wedding!
I have baby skin on my feet and rub blisters very easily. Iâve found Monistat Chafing Relief Powder Gel works wonders (read about it on a blog). Years ago, my sister was fishing through my toiletry bag at Sâs wedding and asked if I had a âlady problem.â D and I always have it on hand.
