The MOB/MOG Dress Extravaganza!

I must have baby skin on my feet too - I’m very prone to blisters. Even with shoes that have always been very comfortable, I can have a random day where they chew my feet

@fendrock you rock that dress! :sunglasses::+1:

I’m having a massive problem finding shoes for my MOG dress. It’s become more of an issue than even finding the dress! I have size 10 wide feet. If that’s not problem enough, I need it to match and be satin or velvet. Heel no higher than 3.5”. Sandals don’t look great with it, so sticking with a pump. I’ve sent back 7 pairs already and waiting for 2 more. Ugh.

Future DIL said to find a super comfy one to change into. I did find a patent wedge that matches ok and is comfy. Not what I’d like to wear with it really. Too casual, but may be good for the reception. I like them enough I’m keeping for other outfits.

For those with long dresses, how can you wear sneakers and flats after the wedding? Won’t your dresses drag on the floor?

I went through 9 pairs looking for shoes for my son’s wedding, and I wasn’t really happy with what I wound up with.
Have you tried going to wedding dress shops?
My go to place for shoes is Nordstrom, but IIRC Macy’s had a bunch of satiny ones in different heel heights, maybe for prom season. I assume they could be dyed.

I stopped in at David’s Bridal and they don’t do that anymore. I’ll check to see if they do at Nordstrom’s, thanks! There is a website called dyeables, they charge $10 to try on the fit first. I wouldn’t mind that, but I’d like a bit higher heel than they have. They aren’t cheap either.

I take a pair of ballet flats with me to all weddings…and that included DDs.

Honestly…the shoes I wore for walking down the aisle and pictures were strappy silver sandals which a friend actually loaned me. I didn’t wear them very long.

Why do your shoes need to be dyed to match?

My dress is a plum. I don’t want to break the column and have my shoes stand out.

@BunsenBurner your thoughts?

I’m in the shoe search phase now too. I’m looking at different styles of pumps with heels around 3"-3.25". My plan is to change shoes at the reception and will go with a comfy wedge that is the same height as the fancy shoes.

Here’s what I changed into for DS wedding a few years ago. I danced all night in them and my dress never dragged. They are cheap, really comfortable and no one could see them under my dress. I’ll do it again if the height works with the dress for DD wedding.

If your dress is floor length, I guarantee that your shoes will not be visible in photos! Especially if they are neutral color like flesh-colored patent leather in close toe style (pumps, d’Orsays, slingbacks). Patent leather is softer and more stretchy and can be more comfortable than regular leather.

I have not heard of anyone dyeing fabric shoes lately… although Manolos (on the high end) and Nina (on the more reasonable price end) offer fabric shoes in many colors. Tip: if you want to get a pair of Manolo Hangisis made for the US market, go a whole size up! I normally wear size 40 Euro in many Euro made shoes but have to buy 41 or 41.5!

It seems like black could be ok under a plum.

For reception, maybe look at Sketchers wedge sandles. I got this style on a sale last summer and really like them. I am especially picky about having comfy shoes. My feet are narrow, so you may need a different style/width

I think I found a pair, they came in today. They are the perfect color. I do believe when I walk, the toes will show. They are Lifestride and these are unbelievably comfortable. No one will see the straps, so that’s not a concern of mine. The one with the diagonal straps have nit come yet, but at least I know I’ve found one I liked.

Please don’t take offense at this…but I seriously doubt anyone will be looking at your toes during this wedding.

If those shoes are comfy for you and you like them…go for it.

Actually Thumper, I do take offense at your comment. This is a thread where it should be safe to discuss our clothes, shoes, jewelry, for this special day without being made to feel (or try to make feel in my case)…well ridiculous.

I like your choice! You likely will not need a second shoe to change into because these look like they have both comfort and style.

Those are pretty and I like that they are not like a full shoe or a full sandal - if you can handle the heel they look like they could be easy to get around in!!!

Pretty shoes! If you have a concern about shoes showing, perhaps consider sheer black hose?

Perfect shoes! They do look comfortable!

No offense intended. Those shoes look great, are comfortable, and match your dress. I say…go for them. Either pair (cross strap or the others) will be fine.

I like both of those! A friend who was recently a MOG, wore a navy floor-length gown very similar to the one I wore, decided that her shoes should be a pop of color and went with a red pump (more on the burgundy side of red, than the cherry/tomato side) and the pointy toe sticks out from under her navy gown in the pics. I personally loved it.
