The MOB/MOG Dress Extravaganza!

I was thinking the same…that these may do fir the whole wedding.

conmama, I love the dress! Personally, I would do earrings and a bracelet and leave the neckline open. it looks fantastic on you! I wouldn’t do the big statement necklace. I think the fit of the dress and color are perfect and that is the statement! I also would not do anything at the waist. If you have an heirloom brooch that you could try at the waist maybe that and in that case omit the bracelet?? Have fun at the wedding. You will be smashing.

Thanks! I actually have a long neck and that’s just a lot of empty space. It needs something. I actually bought a statement necklace and earrings to wear. I hear you about leaving it bare, and I usually do with off the shoulder tops. I guess I decided a function like this is the time for me to go bold. But thanks for your suggestion. I won’t be wearing a belt or anything.

It should be lovely! Perhaps you’ll share another photo after the dress is altered and the jewelry decided. (Yes, I know many months til the wedding. We can wait.)

I will show it all!

I had to back up to your Nov 13 post to see your lovely gown. It looks great on you and the shoes you found are great for it! Congrats!

I’m of the less is more school. The dress already has bling. The most I’d consider wearing is simple earrings and maybe a strand of pearls or gold chain. I wouldn’t want to detract from the great dress and your attractive figure. I wouldn’t wear a bracelet for fear of snagging the dress or detracting from it.

Then you’ll hate my necklace! But that’s OK! We’re all different.

What kind of necklace did you decide on?

Conmama- love the dress (the mermaid style is so, so flattering) and the shoes are perfect! I had that exact pair (in black) by Lifestride and wore them to work for years.

I’m sure you chose a great necklace for YOU, @conmama. I’m just an understated type—we are all different.

It’s a statement necklace. But I’ll be 5’11’ in my heels so I think I can pull it off.

Didn’t a friend give you a very simple chain and stone necklace you were considering? At one point, you thought that and statement earrings.

It sounded very pretty!

Change of mind?

LOL - there can be lots of mind changing for MOB/MOG outfits :dress:, especially if there is a long engagement :grinning:

Can you show us?

I think my friend bought three different dresses. Maybe four. She will never have a shortage of long, navy gowns

Following up on a previous (October) post. DS is ‘eloping’ next month–a very small, immediate-family-only-beach wedding in the Caribbean. This is my MOG dress but I need some help with accessories. I will likely wear wedges I already own, in a beige-y/gold tone fabric. (DIL-to-be says she wants a few pictures with everyone wearing shoes but we’ll probably be barefoot most of the time.)

Don’t think I need a necklace. Do you agree? Earrings are my big question. I’d like something substantial but not giant. What do you think of pearl drop earrings? I’m leaning toward staying with a gold tone since the halter neckline is made of gold-tone chain. I am also considering a chunky gold hoop. (I keep thinking about the old adage about the MOG wearing beige and keeping her mouth shut. It seems I’ve already blown that, given the fucshia/hot pink color of my dress!) The bride is totally on board with the dress, BTW.

My hair is short and curly, if that helps with visualizing the earring choices. Would really love some good ideas on earrings and any other accessories you can “see” with the dress and in this setting. Any ideas about a wrap? TIA

Love the dress!! :smiling_face_with_three_hearts: There are a couple of styling suggestions in the link - earrings, bracelet, clutch, and shoes. No necklace (and I agree). I’d go with longer dangling earrings if your hair is short.

I think largish (but light, comfortable) earrings would be nice. With bracelet or perhaps wrist corsage.

Maybe have a little fun with tropical themed earrings?

Great ideas from Marilyn, as always. Also think the pearl drop earrings could work if you prefer something simpler. Have fun with it all!
