The Most Ironic Thing You've Ever Said

Have you ever said something that was just glistening with that perfect tinge of irony, but been the only onr who knew it? Isn’t it just maddening?

So, here is your chance to finally share your little gems of irony with the world. Everyone post the most ironic thing you have ever said!

I’ll start. Today, I was talking to my best friend and the guy I like. I had almost asked him to the prom yesterday (the last day to buy tickets), after a great deal of urging from my friend, but I hadn’t been able to work up the nerve (we have a long unspoken history of missing chances with each other out of shyness). We had come up with this plan that my friend was going to ask his best friend, Nick, as a joke, and we all agreed it would be hilarious. So anyway, today after class, Nick was leaving so the guy I like was like “Do it now!” and my friend just kind of glared jokingly at him, because she doesn’t really want to ask him, it would just be funny. So I was like, “Ah, darn it, you’re missing your chance!” And we all laughed, but I’m not sure how many of us got the irony there.

Today, I was talking to one of my best friends and this one girl I liked. I almost asked her out to visit a college campus (a lot of them don’t like it when I get drunk and run around like a student). So my best friend kept pushing me onto do it (I can sort of tell she likes me and all, but you can never be too sure). So I made this little plan for my best friend to ask another friend, Nicky, considering we got accepted to the same college and we’d all visit together. So anyways, today after class, Nicky was leaving and wasn’t completely in on the plan. My best friend was still reluctant to go ahead and ask Nicky. I was getting agitated, so I was like “Do it now!” and my best friend gave me the evil eyes, cause he doesn’t like to be told what to do. So I was like, “Ah, darn it, you’re missing your chance!” And we all laughed.

So then I came onto CC, and was about to post the story, but you had gotten there first. How ironic.

Is it ironic that Alanis Morrisette’s song “Ironic” is not really ironic at all?
