the most popular major in RISD?

All freshmen in RISD chooses their major at the end of their freshman year as I understand it. And transfer students can get in open space that freshmen left.
So Id like to know What the most popular major in RISD is (which is the hardest major for transfer students to get in)

That’s not how it works. The most popular majors are not necessarily the hardest to get into; in fact, they may be easier to get into.

The limitation on enrollment is due to limitations on studio space. RISD students are assigned their own space and don’t share space as students at many art schools do. Each department has its own limit on the number of students it can accept, based on available studio space. Among last year’s graduates (Class of 2009), the most popular majors were: illustration (79), industrial design (66), graphic design (52), and painting (50). But these are also the departments that – because of their popularity, year after year – have the most studio space available, so they are able to handle large populations of students. In contrast, the very small departments like glass (6 graduates) and ceramics (5) have very limited studio space, making it that much harder to “squeeze in” an extra student or two.

So it just depends on how the numbers are working out with the freshman class in the particular year that you want to transfer in, because the numbers will vary slightly every year. (RISD guarantees all freshmen that they can have the major they want, so that’s why transfers get the leftover slots.) But in general, it’s probably hardest to transfer into the smaller departments – or what you would call the least popular majors.

thank you worried-mom!!
Do you know anything about interior design and architectural design? That is what I want to major in…:(

industrial design, i think, but they don’t make you decide that or judge yoru admissions based on that till the beginning of 2nd semester (mind you, that’s an early time to choose your path, but that’s RISD)
