I used to think that too, but when you go to any college tour or info-session (at least the ones I’ve been to (Duke, Princeton, Yale, Columbia), ask whether they like IB or AP more, and they will always say IB-- and that they realize not all have the opportunity to take IB.

srsly “hoping for later today” is not a good sign

The TOK Extended Essay is a 3,500 word research paper intended to be a unique investigation into any field of study the candidate chooses. It takes about 6-12 months to write properly according to the process. It’s not much work if done according to schedule.

IB SL exams are quite easy. But certain subjects such as English, which many schools (like mine) require HL testing in, are far more difficult than AP Lit and Lang by junior year. SL Math also covers many years worth of concepts, and HL math covers different types of math not taught in high school. Unfortunately, Physics and Biology are weaker in that they are two year courses. Physics is basically AP Physics B, while Biology seems to place an unnecessarily high emphasis on ecology during its first year. One-year Chemistry is most different from AP in that its organic chemistry unit covers mechanisms of compound formation. Finally, HL History is an extremely in-depth investigation into history around the world with a focus on European history.

As for electives, candidates can take courses such as Advanced Music, Sociology, Film, Art, Theater, etc. In the end, I see IB as worth it. The classes are considered equivalent in rigorousness to AP for purposes of college admissions, and taking the AP exams after IB courses only required a small level of self-studying. To me, I got the best of both worlds.

@birdlovers i wunt ma ap scurez naozzzzzz

@I3 actually ive never heard that, and heard that they like them both equally

Hope is never lost!

But if we get them today, they’d have to be up and going by 5 EST, right, since CB closes then?

VioletPastPrime, when I looked up collegeboard’s hours on their official website, it says they have AP representatives available for you to contact until 6 PM/8 PM… There is still hope if scores aren’t released in 5 minutes. ;)

You can do IB and do AP on the side as well, but not AP and IB on the side.

I find that IB’s rubrics are ridiculous. Most categories are out of two points. Many kids get 1/2 in everything because they did the work but not perfectly. Whereas with AP the rubrics are much more lenient, and it’s far simpler to study with so many review books out there.

@silonthesofa
So basically you’re at St. Andrews and hoping for Imperial? Those are great schools, what’re you studying?

^Oh, so we might still get them later today…

I’m sure there is an exception for collegeboard employees working to release exams. 5 may be listed as business hours and the time you can call, but bear in mind phone operators are not the same people as the ones uploading scores. besides, think you can possibly sue for false advertising if they don’t meet the deadline right? can’t remember, but in the states, nothing would surprise me.
@theresaax2,
never was good at electricity either.
biggest surprise of my life when last year i got a 5 on the phys C E and m but a 4 on mech. should have been the other way around. this year my mech exam was… a fluke. just unlucky circumstances. unlucky FR, bad day for my brain to shut down because an hour after, i thought about the problems and they were beyond simple all for two parts. so instead of scoring 40 points, I scored probably 19, because I made stupid mistakes like first writing J=mv, but then circling v/J=m instead of J/v=m, which threw off my answer for the next part because instead of v cancelling i had it to the 3rd power or some crap… anyways, you get it. but i’m riding on my MC to carry me through. I’d be surprised if I got any more than 3 wrong, and even that I think unlikely.

whose got some mob connections to take care of trevor. They dont even have to be Italian. The irish mob, indian mob, or mexican cartel will suit just fine.

^6 PM is only on Fridays, so they’re open until 8 EDT(5 PDT).

Where did 5 pm come from?

Yeah. I really hope they come out today. I can’t even take a nap because I’m so nervous. Ugh. I need to find something to pass time.

And honestly, I don’t know where 5 PM came from?

Thank you LoseYourself and cherrysunsets2.

Seriously, guise, be patient.

So we have til 8 pm EST today (7 pm central time for me)? Then we lose hope for today after that time…

You guys do realize just because a call center closes at a certain time doesn’t mean everyone just gets up and leaves at that time right? There are other jobs at CB besides answering your calls…
